Introduction - Noah

Post by CoolBreeze18 »

Hello, my name is Noah, and I'm a 19 year-old from North Georgia. I have graduated high school and attended one year of college. I am currently in the process of enlisting, and I hoped to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment since my childhood when I talked to one of my father's friends who was a Ranger.

My current PT scores are as follows:

Push-ups: 31
Sit-Ups: 47
Pull-ups: 5
2-mile run: 14:17

I know that these scores need to improve drastically, and I would like to thank all of you for any advice or guidance you are able to provide.

Ranger Jim, I live in Northwest Georgia, and I attended Berry College. I have wanted to join the service since I was a boy, and I feel that the best way for me to serve my country is as a Ranger. Also, I would like to surround myself with the highest caliber of soldiers possible, and I believe the best way to do this is in the 75th Ranger Regiment.

Ranger Jim, I am going to MEPS tomorrow to take the ASVAB. I had been waiting for a traffic ticket to get cleared up, and it was dismissed yesterday. I'm also waiting for my med read to come back before I can get my physical, but my recruiter has expressed confidence that it won't be an issue.

Just an update from my trip to MEPS yesterday: I took the ASVAB, and my AFQT percentile score is 99. All my line scores are between 130 and 141. My recruiter told me that several Option 40 contracts are available for me, but none are infantry, so they'll have to request an 11B Option 40 contract for me.

Young man, your ambitions are admirable, but you have much to do before you can even begin to compete for a slot in the Regiment.

As you noted, your PT score is lacking, especially for someone your age. As of this morning I more than doubled your PT score, and I am far from the zone of consideration for any military standard, let alone today's Rangers. As Ranger Jim would tell you, now you have a baseline to work on.

Read much and post little.

Ranger Affirm, yours is a very valid question. It is also one which I have been asked many times, and I'm sure I will be asked many times the future. As I am not a very introspective person and seldom question my own motives, I have not as of yet been able to articulate a satisfactory answer, but I will attempt to do so here. Firstly, I have no desire to do anything in the maintenance, medical, or communications fields. Also, I would like to spend as little time as possible indoors or operating a computer. Not least of all, I have had my heart set on being an infantryman since my childhood.

Ranger Jim, my med read has been authorized, and the plan is for me to go to MEPS September 10th so that I can get my physical and enlist on the 11th.

I was informed today that my MEPS date has been postponed due to work being done there. I will now probably be going down 24 September so that I can enlist 25 September.
