Intro- Eric

Post by BarnOwl »

My name is Eric, I'm 25 and from the rural Midwest. I've thought about taking a swing at the Rangers for years and now I'm tired of just "thinking" about it. I want to join the Regiment for the challenge, the brotherhood, and simply because it's something I believe in. For the past few months I've been taking an EMT and fire science classes in pursuit of a firefighting job, but truth be told Rangers are quite literally all I think about from the moment I wake up in the morning to the moment I pass out at night.
Pushups hover in the 70's, situps have been high 60's,and pullups are 15+. My last genuine run for time was in the 13:30's, but I know it's gotten worse, so lots of room for improvement all around. Also I've been hitting the weights a bit and playing around with rucking (which was an eye opener for me). I don't know if I can be successful at becoming a Ranger. I know countless men better than me have tried and failed. But still, something deep inside tells me I can do it. Something tells me that if "that guy" can do it, and "this guy" can do it, then I can too.

Eric, if you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We are proud of the fine young Rangers who have passed through ArmyRanger.com on their life journey. There are a number of firemen and EMTs among them. Please read the FAQs as well as select stickies and threads. Most questions have been addressed at least once. The search feature, located at the top right of this page is your friend. Please tell us more about yourself. Never, never quit!

Eric, loose the weights. What you're after is endurance, not a pretty body! Train like your life depended on it because if you become a Ranger, it may.

What MOS are you looking into? Based on your intro and the education you are pursuing I would guess a 68W. If so read Bloody_limey's overview. If you have questions pertaining to the training let me know.
