Deployed with questions

Post by j_setzler »

I am not currently deployed, however, I will be deploying early May. I read in an AR that states soldiers may apply for 1 of 7 duties or assignments without regard to current assingment, Rangers being one. In that same reg, I read that OCONUS soldiers may submit their application no less than 5 months before DEROS. Now, on this forum, I found that someone stated "As far as your DEROS goes, Ranger assignments take precedence over pretty much anything. If you packet goes through, your DEROS date doesn't mean shit". Could I possibly get some insight on any of this? I plan to submit my packet sometime in August, so if this is true, based on your experience, when would the earliest I could get a RASP1 slot? Same question if it's not true. Thank you Rangers in advance.

A while ago you submitted an introduction that addressed the same issue. At that time I gave you a link to 75th Ranger Regiment Recruiting. Did you bother to ask them the same question?

Come to think of it, Ranger Jim, I did not. I have had so much on my shoulders here lately that I completely forgot about.

And you think we don't have any responsibilities? Look, this is not Face Book, we pay attention to detail. A skill you need to work on if you expect to become a Ranger.

Oh no, I completely understand. Again, due to getting prepped for deployment it just completely slipped out of mind, although there should be no excuse for anything. I did get in contact with a recruiter first thing this morning and my question was confirmed.
