allthegundams, good sitrep - unfortunate results. I hope this is a minor setback and you can retry at a future date.Jim wrote:Thanks for the SITREP and the honesty. Please stay in touch with us. Never, never quit!
Coming back & talking to us is good as one Ranger does not lie to another Ranger. Keep up the p.t.

Re: Sitrep - allthegundams
Absolutely not Ranger ZoneIV. The standard PT test isn't what got me, it was the pullups that did. They want 4 dead hang pull-ups (read: chinups) for which you bring your chin over the bar and then come down to fully lock your elbows out. All of the standards for everything else got stricter for Airborne school but I improved my form there to meet the standard. I found that they weren't very strict in basic as far as form was concerned but it also varied from person to person. I strive to get back to RASP at some point during my contract and will start applying ASAP.ZoneIV wrote:Your candor is appreciated and respected. For the benefit of those soldiers who will take that same PT test in the future.....did you find the standards for pushups in RASP tighter than what you saw in BAC or Basic? I just know in the the old days, a PT test with a Ranger grader was the toughest I ever encountered. Drive on in your next assignment and always give 100% and then some.

When I was in Ranger school. every time we went to the mess hall we had to do at least 4 chin-ups.

Rangers let me clarify:KW Driver wrote:Four pull ups was the standard?
The standard for admission to pre-RASP was 4 chinups. The standard for admission to RASP was 6 chinups.

This is a setback, but not a show stopper. I am proud of what you have accomplished thus far, and expect monthly updates on your progress at a minimum. This serves two purposes; it will keep Rangering foremost in your mind, and will serve as a non-biased description of events following RASP relief. Others in this forum will be able to observe for themselves what happens, and contrast it with their experiences.allthegundams wrote:Rangers, I was dropped from RASP due to a PT test failure. I was told because I didn't quit that I could reapply in 6 months for selection. I am currently in worldwide awaiting assignment to more than likely the 82nd.
Failure is almost respectable, particularly they way you are approaching it. If you quit you are essentially a non-entity to Rangers everywhere. Good luck, and don't quit.

Get with Ufix in hold-over. You two need to help one another prepare for the next go-round.

Ranger Jim,
I'm at 1/501 Comanche. We do some serious PT up here. I'll be asking for some schools starting in a few months.
