Postby GTP » July 22nd, 2012, 8:09 am

The following message was posted on the US Mountain Ranger Forum yesterday, 21 July:

It is with sadness that I inform you of the passing of Ranger Lt. Col. (ret) Walter Maxwell Sanders on July 19th, 2012. Due to a sudden series of medical complications, he was admitted to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantwown, WV. During his brief stay he had his family by his side His passing was peaceful

Service arrangements are currently being made and once finalized will be passed on. A Military Honors Ceremony will take place this fall at Arlington National Cemetary.

We have lost yet another great ranger who served as the Senior Advisor to the 52nd Vietnamese Ranger Bn. Walt was inducted into the US Army Ranger hall of Fame in 2004. We will miss you Walt.

Thoughts and prayers to family, friends and loved ones.

Ranger Walt Sanders was an advisor to the 43d and later 52d Vietnamese Ranger Battalions. He was a superb Ranger and father. He will be missed. Will let you know when we get a date at Arlington.
