SITREP-FreedomX

Postby FreedomXforAll » January 11th, 2012, 4:37 pm

Rangers,
The recruitment process is finally rolling for me. Have a great recruiter whose really been helping me out. Took the ASVAB yesterday and scored a 97 with a 132 GT. For some reason my recruiter is fairly confident he can get me what I want. Been doing PT fairly regularly and it helps that our basketball team is in district, which means lots of running during practice. I will update as my situation changes.

If you're serious about getting this going then doing PT "fairly regularly" will not do it bud. You need to start smoking yourself daily. This has been stressed over and over again on this site. It's up to you, how bad do you want this. Or do you want to be a fairly regular soldier?

Yes sir Ranger Cams, I am very serious about this. Unfortunately, my schedule is restricted right now, with 2 hours of basketball practice 6 days a week, half hour of film a day plus an hour of weights 4 times a week. I am still working out regularly, just not on the military PT standards. As soon as the season is over I'm getting right back into PT every day.

As I see you're from Texas I know you were most likely brought up to say Sir/Ma'am in most interactions, which to me is a good thing don't get me wrong, but there's no need to call me Sir here.

Sounds as though you're doing a decent amount of conditioning, but make no mistakes about it, you'll definitely need to change your workouts at least several months ahead of shipping out. Don't rely on OSUT to be your readiness PT for RASP.

I wish you well young man. Go get it.

Thank you Ranger Cams, and you're right. Old Txas boy habit.

UPDATE: although unable to find me an 11x opt 40, my recruiter did find me an 11x. As combat MOS are hard to come by, I'm taking this chance and heading off to MEPS tomorrow to sign. Evem though it does not have an Opt. 40, I look at this as nothing more than motivation to be the best of the best, and to earn the slots at airborne and RASP through hard work.

Thank you,
Tim

Good deal. I suggest reading everything Ranger Goon has posted in this forum and others about OSUT/RASP/Airborne and the Opt 4 to 40 during OSUT.

He knows of what he speaks and has updated info on a regular basis.

Rangers, yesterday I signed on the dotted line to become an 11x. My ship date is 20120814. Also, I learned that I will be going in as an E-3, but I have to test in front of my recruiter's commander first. I'm very excited and plan on busting my ass in OSUT and earning the slots in Airborne and RASP.

Rangers,

As it is getting closer to my ship date, I decided it was time for another SITREP. First, graduated from high school. A close call in physics, but I made it. Had my dental implants done a week from yesterday, knocked my flat down until about two days ago. Getting back into the PT full scale. Am qualified for my first promotion, all that is left is a PT test, and to score 60 on each event. My grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, and his military service and life helped me pick the path that I'm on, so I've been traveling to where he lives in Louisiana fairly regularly. Hopefully the humidity will help condition me to weather in Georgia, so I'm enjoying PTing here. My friend's brother who was a Captain in the Rangers has been helping me a ton. More than anything he is helping me get mentally prepared and instilling in me a newfound mentality. Finally, since military service is in my future, I was gifted a Stainless Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec for graduation :D possibly the best present I've ever received.

Will keep updating as things evolve and as I get closer to my ship date

Regards,

FreedomX

I sent you a email about getting a option 40 before you ship. I see that your location is in Texas. If you are leaving from Houston meps have your recruiter contact me ASAP. If you are leaving from a different meps follow my directions in the email.

Good Luck,

Rangers,
Submitted a re-no about a week and a half ago, and found out today it was approved, which my recruiter said was pretty rare. Headed back down to MEPS this afternoon to hopefully get an Opt. 40 attached to my contract.

Rangers,
Went down to MEPS, got airborne qualified, but it turns out my recruiter had not uploaded my diploma or transcripts, so the Re-No did not end up going through.

On a side note. When I went down, I told the doctor I had dental implants and that they were finished up in June. I asked if it needed to be put on my medical forms, and he said since it was cosmetic, no it did not. Do I need to be more insistent about it? I don't want to get to reception and have my dental exam and get DQ'd for witholding information/falsifying information.
