there's a couple of us "G-spotters" on here.

as I understand it, G Co, 143 IN (ABN)(RGR) was stood up sometime in the 70's through the mid-80's-ish. they wore a scroll and the 36 ID patch with it. pretty sure they had black berets. mid-late 80s the unit was redesignated a LRS-U with an airborne tab over the 36 ID patch and rasberry berets. that's what I wore from 89-91.

welcome here.

I joined in Co "A" in 1978 to be airborne and was for a few years.
The company was re designated as "G" and the Ranger mission was added.
"G" was disbanded in 2005...

I am a little confused as well. Wasn't the 141st Inf (all three Bns) part of the 49th Armored Division (TXNG) when the Division was reactivated back around 73 until the division was redesignated as the 36th Inf Division (TXNG) around 2004? At least in the later 80s, the 141st was Mech Infantry. They came to Ft. Hood for their summer training and we (2AD) would be tasked to evaluate them. I never knew there was an official Ranger Company in the NG at any time. You learn something new every day.

Do not forget D Co 151 Inf INARNG/ D Co 75th Ranger

Also Ranger HOF (2000) Bill Butler was a member of this Unit from start to well, we are still going. Sadly he has Passed. The WTC at Benning is named Camp Butler in his honor. Our Unit is now, C Co 2-152 (LRSC) 219th BFSB

In 1982- late 1984 in G Co. 143d, we did wear Black Beret and a scroll, which I would post a pic of if I knew how to get it on here. It was common practice to wear the "T patch" underneath the Airborne Ranger scroll, which drew frequent comments. Apparently there was an official letter authorizing this to "keep the 36th ID lineage alive". The division in the Texas guard then was the 49th AD. Some guys wore only the "T Patch" with an Airborne tab above it. Why??? I don't know, that was never explained to me.

Finally played with paint until I was able to get the unit patch down to avatar size.... That was the common way to wear it with the T patch below the scroll.... well maybe a little straighter
