Rangers,
I have successfully completed IBOLC and earned my Blue Cord. I can truthfully say that I have grown both physically and mentally as a leader. I was assigned the SAW as my primary weapon and lugging that thing around changed my attitude real quick about how tough I though I was. I was strong in the academic areas as well as my graded patrols which gives me hope for RS. My previous MOS also gives me terrain-model skills which I found were always in need during the planning phase, I hope to also apply these in RS. Other then that everything was really crawl-walk-run and just a matter of getting up and getting it done. All the guys that were in my platoon were good guys and I can say that I am glad to be selected as an Infantry Officer.
My company has just completed our mini-RAP week to select who will be classing up. The heat has been the biggest factor of all removing several good guys already during our 5-mile run and 12-mile ruckmarch. Land Nav also removed a few of my friends. It is hard to see guys who you believe are better soldiers then yourself be removed...makes the task ahead more meaningful.
As of now I am fighting the packing list trying to figure out what is good and what is not. The one RI I know has about as much of a clue as me and the gossip coming from recent Darby recycles and HHC cadre isn't helping. But I'm excited to be classing up, but I cannot say I am looking forward to the prickly heat, constant pissing, mosquitoes, and wet ACU's. Hey, at least I will not have to get out my sleep system at night!
Well, it's off to CrossFit Inception (a ranger owned facility) to continue my fitness program. (If you are reporting to IBOLC soon PM me) P.S. A t-shirt over your face while you sleep is better then the bug nets, so don't waste your money. It's the buzzing noise that sucks more then the biting.
