Intro for S2_Fortune_Teller

Post by S2_Fortune_Teller »

Enlisted in the PA Army National Guard 27 JAN 2007 under 35F (Intelligence Analyst), 6x2 contract; Split Option; Assigned to HHC 28th Combat Aviation Brigade at Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA. Currently a Specialist awaiting the E-5 board.
Completed Basic Training 17 AUG 2008 at Ft. Jackson, SC (C Co 1/34).
Returned home for Senior year at Susquenita High School; graduated JUN 2008
Shipped to Ft. Huachuca, AZ, in JUL 2008 for AIT (16 weeks, C Co 305 MI BN Class 037); Completed & graduated NOV 2008
Returned home to HHC 28th CAB for Mobilization; Deployed to Iraq with HHC 28th CAB in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Returned home with HHC 28th CAB; DEC 2009.
ETS in January 2013. Reenlistment pending.
Currently attending Millersville University; Major: BSE English/Writing Studies

So that's the extent of my 4 years in the PA Guard thus far. In a nutshell, I enlisted during my Junior year in high school, shipped out a week before the year ended, completed Basic Training that summer, went back home for my Senior year and shipped out to Ft. Huachuca not too long after graduation. Received news of my unit's mobilization in August 2008 when a Staff Sergeant and a 2nd Lieutenant from my home unit tracked me down in the classroom after an exam. Exact quote: "So, you know we're deploying, right?" Needless to say, I excused myself afterward to vomit in the bathroom. Graduated AIT and returned to the unit in November 2008, left for mobilization at Ft. Sill in January 2009, completed the tour overseas and returned home in December 2009 to my fiance, formerly known here as AIRBORNEVET. My resume is short, I haven't done much, and I don't claim to, either, but I'm proud of what I have had the opportunity to do.

As you've heard from AIRBORNEVET, my stepson is currently in Airborne school and will be hitting RASP in August this year. I'm extremely proud of his accomplishments and what he has set out to do. We originally thought that he was currently waiting for his RASP class to begin on the 23rd of this month; however, he called us today (finally) to let us know that he is, indeed, in Airborne school and will most likely attend the August RASP class.

To those of you on here, Rangers and military spouses/parents alike, thank you all for your service.

This actually made me laugh out loud for real  I, well--we, were wondering when someone would pick up on the math calculations  AIRBORNEVET says, "Adapt, improvise, and overcome."

But yes, definitely hit the ground running. It's been a wild ride!

Thank you both for the kind responses. :D

Not that it probably makes any difference-- I'm just a perfectionist-- but the date of my Basic Training completion is supposed to be 17 AUG 2007--- not 17 AUG 2008. I just caught it a minute ago.

Thanks for that.
I know several cradle robbers and admire their relationships, knowing full well I couldn't handle it myself. Good for both of you.

Well, I guess I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions - maybe you're not such a craddle-robber after all. :P

It's easy when you have two people with similar mind sets and stand on equal ground. But thanks :)

A year can make a hell of a lot of difference depending on the state you're living in! I still tease him about the year he went to SFAS
