Post by Chiron »

Benghazi, Libya (CNN) -- The Libyan capital was a ghost town Thursday morning, witnesses said, as anti-government protesters declared victory elsewhere after reportedly seizing control of the country's third-largest city.

Misrata -- also spelled as Misurata -- is now in the hands of the opposition, who have driven out the mercenaries, according to witnesses and multiple media reports.

Witnesses and multiple reports also said that the town of Az Zintan was under opposition control……..

………. For his part, a defiant Ghadafi has vowed to die a martyr, and urged his supporters to take back the streets from anti-government protesters.

He blamed the unrest on "rats" who are "agents" of foreign intelligence services and warned that people who carry weapons against the country will be executed……..

Greece sent 3 C-130s to evac its citizens. Also Greek ferry boats started shuttling 40,000 Chinese out. The first 2,500 Chinese just arrived. It seems China asked Greece for help.

The thing about Libya is that it has the best oil. Sweet oil which is much better than other crude oil available. I wonder if Ghadafi will give it up this fast.

How are these protestors going to survive financially?

Supply their throngs with food? water? basic necessities?

Unless the world comes to their aid rapidly with supplies. . .

whose coming first?

just a few thoughts.

By the way some bases in Greece are being used against Ghadafi. The AWACS are based out of west coast Greece. There is also a fighter base in the west coast of the Peloponese. The Greek government has given the green light for there use.

Just heard on the news that despite the claim of a cease fire and the U.N. resolution Ghadafi forces is getting closer to Benghazi. It’s the first mention of the sound of fighting being heard outside of the city.

French jets are flying over Libya now. British jets have moved closer as well as Danish jets moved to Corsica. Things are moving faster.
