The S&W "Governor"

Any thoughts? Perhaps this should go in the ROTA forums, but it might be nice to have a weapon that is A) able to handle more than one caliber (also a fan of .357 revolvers since they can shoot .38 SPL) and B)simple; it doesn't get any simpler than a DA revolver. I also like that they are made in America. I'm not a fan of Taurus. I just cannot, for the life of me, trust a gun that is made in South America.

A lot of the internet gun weenies have nothing but shit to talk about this gun, and yeah, I think the name is hokey and they are trying way too hard to cash in on the "Judge" but I want to know what real, actual warriors think, not a bunch of mall ninja types.

Based on S&W capitulation to the anti-gun lobbies a few years back, I am very hesitant to give them any of my money.

Setting that aside for a moment, what are you planning on using this weapon for? Carry? Home defense? How would you load it out in those situations? As far as ROTA scenarios, I would look for a long arm that is multi-round rather than a handgun.

I have a Judge that my lady friend keeps on the nightstand when I'm gone. It's loaded with 2 rounds birdshot, 2 rounds buckshot and the last one is .45 Long Colt. She's very competent with weapons, but I figured that even half asleep, two rounds of birdshot towards the bedroom door will hit a target. It might not kill somebody, but it will back them up until she's fully awake and then comes the buckshot. The .45 is a good finishing round. If there's multiple targets, there's also a Mossburg 500 tactical very close by.

Do the 45 ACP require a special clip to keep them in the chamber?

Yeah. They require moon clips, which is pretty much what all "rimless" cartridges (.40 S&W, .45 ACP etc.) require in a revolver. The Governor comes with them.

I didn't see the date on that, but my understanding is that since the Judge came out ammo manufacturers have started making more and better .410 ammo. Still researching more into that.

Besides, there's always .45 ACP and .45 Colt.

There is a .410 round actually designed for the judge--for self defense. Shoots disks and shot from the same round.. Have some...haven't shot em yet...if I get out next weekend, I'll get some stills and/or video...

loaded shot shot .45 LC .45 LC shot....

Same premise as above, first 2 blurry eyed half sleeping, next 2 if there is still a target, lastmone if shit stain had a friend.

Oto-man, let me know how those work out. Those are the Winchester PDX1 shells that I mentioned earlier. I'd be interested to see how well they perform.
