Just stumbled upon this thread and thinking bwaaahahaha!
When I went thru Jump School (and no, smart guys, they weren't using biplanes) I had some trepidations, but not to the extent I am reading here. On that first flight, everybody was a little apprehensive, the JM was laughing and rubbing his hands together walking up and down between us, shouting "Is everybody happy?" and laughing hysterically. Then he shouted "Awright. How many of you have never been on an airplane before?" And half the guys on the plane raised their hands. All these 17-18 yr old kids who had never been on an airplane were going to be thrown out of it.
THAT was when I relaxed and thought Okay - I'm gonna be fine, 'cuz I've flown before and this is no big deal.
I never flinched or dreaded a jump after that. It was always one of my favorite thrills.
