It looked fun until he got on top and started the "free climbing." Then that silliness on the antenna. Screw that shit! He's an idiot for not snapping in more.

How about forgetting a tool? Imagine that conversation at the top;
"ok, hand me the Phillips Head screwdriver."
"The what?"
"Phillips Head, screwdriver."
"Oh, shit, we needed that?"
Also, is it me or wouldn't a helicopter and rappelling line be faster? I know you have the static electricity and wind issues, but geez. I mean how did they bolt that thing together? My guess is that guy didn't hump it up in pieces. Plus, that would be one heck of a nice base jump!

If you want to be successful at anything, you'll need to develop a never quit attitude. Don't let life happen to you. Grab it by the throat and make life dance to your tune.

You have a point, but at 50 feet you're not going to have the time to think... "wow, what a dumbass I have been for climbing all the way up here, wonder what HH6 will think when they tell her? Did I just pass a bird, yeah it was a sparrow, wonder if it was english or african, yeah....there is the ground, this shit will hurt in a minute...well, see ya on the other side."

Sounds like you've run through that soliloquy yourself.
I know I did once, but from the other direction (substitute fish species for birds) when I ran out of air 130' down when working as a diver.
Voss, 2d batt's first fatality was a PFC who was showing off his newly acquired rappaling skills while home on leave when the chimney he used as an anchor point failed. "there but for the grace of God..etc"

So much for staged decompression at that point. Glad you're still with us, and not sleeping with the....well...fishes.

Re: 1,768 feet
Buddy of mine was a site foreman for cell towers here in the Beautiful South. Most of the nitwits that worked on those were NOT experienced climbers. He described many "why aren't you dead?" scenarios to me.
