How do i go to RASP if it isn't already in my contract?

Post by Dexter »

Hi, My name is Dexter.
When i enlisted 3 months ago i wasn't sure about trying out to become a Ranger. Now its really all i can think about. I enlisted as straight 11X Airborne, My test scores qualify me to apply. I'm just not sure on how to go about it? should i request a RENO form from my recruiter to go back to the MEPS and try to get option 40 in my contract, or should i just wait until after OSUT to volunteer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

The 82nd needs people too... Sorry you missed the "put what I want in the contract step"..that is usually the first part of crawl, walk, run...But hey, some kids are built differently and just refuse to crawl...
Welcome to walk stage...yes, it is still possible to get a Ranger Contract in OSUT or even from Airborne school, but the odds are not in your favor. I am not a recruiter, I don't play one on TV...but since you are pre-ship, they may or not work with you. They will either say...sign here on your OPT40, or go pee up a rope and deal with what you signed originally. If it is the latter, you can bail and do anything else, or hope for the best in OSUT or Airborne with crossed fingers...I wasn't joking when I started my response, the 82nd, 24th, 1st, 173rd, everybody needs good men....just because you arent part of the Ranger Regiment, doesnt mean you are not a patriotic soldier for goodness sake...I just means that you dont get the 1 1/2 extra inches added to your junk...not a big deal .bawhahaha ...but seriously,99.99% of the soldiers who have served have never recieved the tan beret--i respect every single one of them that serverd with honor and integrity. That doesn't make them non "soldiers"/ non "partiots"...everybody has a job to do...but it does make them non "Battalion Rangers". Food for thought young stud, that's all...good luck..

Minor plus to FreedomX...nice spot correction for your buddy there stud...
