Welcome aboard.
Since you have a PCS lined up & have combat time, why not just go for the full monty and apply for our Regiment, instead of just hoping for a tab?
Just do it.

Re: Introduction
Thank you Zonk, and ZoneIV. Reiver, I am dissapointed with my choices in the beginning of my enlistment. For the first two years i prioritized partying and myself above professionalism and a sense of pride for my job. I joined at 17 turning 18 with an option 40 contract. Being the young 18 year old punk that i was i chose partying at panama city, florida over my goals to become a Ranger. I made the biggest most regretted mistake of my life and volentarily withdrew. There hasn't been a day in the three years since that i haven't regretted that decision. My Iraq tour brought what is important to me into perspective. Now i am trying to be the best leader and hopefully soon NCO i can be. Alot of my units senior NCOs were RIs and we have a few Rangers from Batt. They all say that Ranger School is not only a great leadership school but it teaches you alot about yourself. And since i am going to the 82nd i would like to go to a scout platoon to a faster moving, smaller, more close knit group.

K.Ingraham, I would give my left nut to have a second chance to be in the 75th. However i have always been told that once you quit you can never come back. I will forever suffer from my weak heartedness as a stupid teenager.

Re: Introduction
Not sure why I read what I did from your initial Post...but...
Still young, can achieve what you TRULY Apply yourself towards.
" Some" things I attempted in my service were with no anticipation of success...BUT
didn't want to be sitting on my front porch rocker (cleaning 12ga), decades later, wondering if?
Do NOT self select. The system will/can do that for you. Everyone's biggest obstacle exists between their own ears.

I don't know about the 'one shot' only thing, even if the 75th is closed to you, do well as a team leader and once you're tabbed consider some of the other high speed/low drag outfits out there.

Re: Introduction
Good advice K. I have aspirations for that sexy unit at Bragg in the future. But i want a few more years of training. Once i hit SSG, hopefully tabbed, and have another deployment under my belt i'll test my mettle there.K.Ingraham wrote:

Re: Introduction
Always good to have "a" plan. Remember the old dictum, "no plan survives contact with the enemy", or reality for that matter.
If you wait for THE perfect time to execute a plan, you'll probably never do so, for there is no "perfect" time.
Spent 25 years on Bragg. Last 23 with the same Unit, arriving as a SP5, retiring as a SGM. "Who Dares Wins".

Re: Introduction
Reiver, would you suggest i try to go to the spring selection next year then? And just give the best i have and some more? I have been getting those emails since i became a specialist in 08. I know its because i'm 11B, Airborne, and have a 127 GT. I would like to know your opinion. Thank you. -mgoatReiver wrote:Always good to have "a" plan.
