Fast Question

Post by ICwrestler8745 »

Rangers,

I need some advice. I try not to waste anyone's time with questions that have already been answered, but its time to reach out.

I plan to enter the Army with an 11x Opt 40 contract this summer. Went down to the recruiter to reserve the MOS this afternoon. The earliest option came up in October - quite a ways off. Are there any other options for finding an Opt 40 contract sooner? Are the jobs listed on the computer the same for every recruiter, or if I went to another station, could they possibly work something out? I'm was also thinking about holding off on the reservation and asking my recruiter to periodically check the jobs.

I want to reserve the slot, but will end up kicking myself if I could have gone sooner and possibly overlooked something.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

"You snooze - you lose"
Take the Opt.40 when you can get it.

Every recruiting station taps into the same database, no point in going elsewhere. Make sure you get the MOS you really want, since you WILL be doing that for the next four years, and the odds are that you will quit long before you get anywhere near a tan beret, no matter when you go.

October is good, neither the army nor the war are going away soon & you need the time to get in shape. Use it.

Unless you come from a hot weather area, you don't to go anywhere near Ft. Benning in the summer. Go get a summer job and do more PT and study.

Sign and use the three-plus months to become a PT stud: two-mile run in 12 minutes, 80-plus sit-ups in two minutes, 80-plus push-ups in two minutes, and at least a dozen chin-ups.

Just wanted to say that, (mostly based on the advice heeded from this site and not anyone else....i.e. Recruiters, armchair generals), I have decided to take the 13 OCT 09 ship date for my 11x Option 40 contract. This is a great opportunity and I'm not about to let it pass me by. I can use this extra time to PT and improve my run/ruck times.

I have a date with MEPs on Tuesday the 23rd and am looking forward to finalizing the process.

I have read much, however, I haven't posted nearly anything on this site, but the information, as I am sure you have been told, is absolutely invaluable. I wanted to thank every Ranger on this site for their advice and their no-shit common sense approach to everything Army and Ranger related.

I will post updates to my progress.

Thank you again, Rangers.

Good, and in 4 months, you can become a beast physically. You should have the APFT and your long runs down, and you could probably be moving into rucking. Good job, though.
