Introduction

Post by KyPlinker »

Hello Rangers, my name is Jacob. I am a 16 year old high school student, turning 17 within the month. I have an appointment with the local Army recruiter on May the 6th, to get the paper work rolling and answer some of my parents questions. I am hoping for an 11X Option 40 contract, and will not enlist until i get one.

Physically i am close to where i want to be, but still lacking. I can to about a 13 minute 2 mile run, if im really pushing, but i need to work on my PU/SU/pull ups. My bullheaded stubbornness is likely going to be my greatest strength, and i will stop at nothing to obtain the tan beret and the title of Ranger.

I am simply here to learn, i have the utmost respect for you Soldiers who have been there and done that for your country, and especially you Rangers. Thank you for your service, whether you admit it or not, you are heroes.

Appointment went well. I will be going in on Monday to turn in my references and prior addresses, etc... to pave the way for my enlistment. My parents will be signing off on Tues/Weds, and if all goes well i will be going to MEPS on Thursday, and if 11X Option 40 is available he tells me i could be enlisted by Friday.

I started the 100 PU program, and i am going to start their 200 SU program as well. My chin ups have been slowly increasing as well.

I will continue to update whenever possible, simply put, i am fucking excited.

Ill update as soon as i can.

You can try a 100 pullup workout as well. Do 1 for every day you've been on it reaching out to 100 total pullups in your workout session. IE day 1 is 1 pullup. Day 2 is 2 ect. They do not all have to be completed consecutively... just reach the total number as quick as possible.

Palms facing my body of palms facing away?

That is an excellent idea that i will also incorporate into my workout, thank you Ranger Disinfertention.

Ranger EarthPig, you've got a PM.

Also, Option 40 was not available at the ROC. I will be going back for another appointment on the 26th to try and move forward again. Apparently, from what i was told, the 11X contracts are on the system for 2010, but the Options have not yet been loaded.

Thank you all for your help and advice. Sorry for any trouble i may have caused.

Aboslutely listen to Ranger Zonk!!!!!! Do NOT sign anything until you get what you want. Even if it means waiting a couple of weeks or even months. Are you signing up prior to graduating? You said you just turned 17, right? Are you out of high school? Just don't understand what you meant.

Still waiting on my contract. Ive been calling the recruiter every one to two weeks asking for updates, but its the same thing every time. Still not in.

Does anyone know when the slots for FY 2010 come online?

Ill just be working on my PT as much as possible. Ive also signed up for cross country this year so i have some more chances to help and improve on my run times.

Ranger JLTW!!!, i have no excuses for my behavior. I will reread the ROE as soon as i post this.

Thank you for the correction. I would hate to come off as disrespectful to any of you, that is the furthest thing from my intentions.

Also, thank you for the advice! I will stay with it until i receive my contract.
