Introduction-Andrew O.
Hi my name is Andrew, and I am currently a Senior in High school
Personal Info:
-I'm 17 and plan on signing the option 40 contract on my 18th Birthday
-I'm 6'1" and weigh 170lbs
-I can max bench press 170lbs
-I can do 16 pullups (forward grip), around 80 pushups, 60 situps, and a mile in about 6min
My current workout revolves around 30lb/15lb dumbells, pullups, pushups, variety of situps/ab excercises, and running 2-3miles on my off days.
I wrote a little essay for you Rangers---I hope you don't kill me for it!
------------
Since the beginning of senior year, I’ve been hell-bent on joining the military out of high school. It’s not because I don’t have the grace of the golden spoon or that I’m too stupid to go to college; I am anything but those. I grew up/am still growing up in a middle-class family, where we live in a comfortable neighborhood snuggled along the Hudson River. We’ve never financially struggled; both my parents went to Binghamton University, my sister graduated from Syracuse University, and my younger sister is currently looking at Private High schools.
To be a battle-hardened licensed badass with ornamental war scars has always been a fantasy of mine. “Wanna know how I got these scars? Well I got them from fighting off ten fucking ninjas at the same time, then killing Cobra Commander with my bare fucking hands. ” The fantasy is still alive, but I have stepped down to earth and off my spaceship to plan out the path to become that BAMF.
Through browsing through military forums and sites, I found out there was more to the military, than just grunts humping it in the mud. Through my research I found my true calling: Shower/Laundry and Clothing Repair Specialist (92s). But my recruiter told me I didn’t meet the Physical Requirements for it, so I decided to just settle for Infantry (11x).
Honor…Adventure…Integrity…Brotherhood…Adversity: I want it all. But I don’t want to be an ordinary grunt; trained to be expendable. I want to be among the best of the best. I want to be with the best trained, most experienced and motivated soldiers. I want to be with those who went through hell and back to be the best at what they do. I want to be with the hardest hitting motherfuckers that shit marines and bleed green. I want to be a US Army Ranger.
Through your long and bloody history, your blood has become your honor and your struggle has become your pride. One day, I hope this will be mine too.
Everyday I train hard; pushing myself to muscle failure. Cursing through flutter kicks. Squeezing out that final pull-up. Pounding out pushups till my arms become useless heaps of meat and flesh. Running till my veins pump battery acid. I struggle so I can prove myself.
I want to earn it…

Your essay was way to long for me to read. Spend more time on your distance running; be comfortable with 5 miles. Keep your grades up. The option 40 is nice, what MOS are you thinking about? Drive on dude...

Or you could say something cool like, "Wanna know how I lost my legs, my eye, and half of my arm? Hadji dropped a grenade off of a rooftop into the turret of my Hummer." Man, that would be cool, wouldn't it? Neato.oliviera436 wrote:To be a battle-hardened licensed badass with ornamental war scars has always been a fantasy of mine. “Wanna know how I got these scars? I'll bet our Devil Dawg members are impressed.olivera436 wrote:I want to be with the hardest hitting motherfuckers that shit marines and bleed green. I want to be a US Army Ranger.
I'm assuming that this is either a joke, or you're a kid with a fantastically dry sense of humor. In any case, I sent you a ROE packet in a private message. Please read it thoroughly. Thanks for your interest in Army Rangers, and welcome to the site.

Or better, "I am slowly loosing my ability to remember and have a nagging sense of falling down 2-3 times a day"EarthPig wrote:Or you could say something cool like, "Wanna know how I lost my legs, my eye, and half of my arm? The double vision is the one that is hard to get used to.

Re: Introduction-Andrew O.
Welcome. Your desire to become an Army Ranger is commendable. But as has already been pointed out, you have much to learn about the reality of military service. I assume that a good portion of your essay was meant to be not entirely serious but it will not come across that way to many here - we tend to take words seriously. Be that as it may, you followed the rules, posted some PT results and made a well-written attempt at explaining why you want to be a Ranger. Now slow down and read a lot of the Future Soldier introductions and other forums and get a good feel for how this place operates. This is the place where you can get the help you need to reach your goals.

Re: Introduction-Andrew O.
Andrew, a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. I'm reserving judgement for the moment. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We take great pride in the quality and quantity of fine young men who have come here on their life's journey. You are a guest here, and we expect you to not abuse our hospitality. Obviously, you have a good sense of humor, but I suggest you restrain yourself for the moment. This site is unlike most; each and every member who has Ranger on their signature line has been validated as having served in the 75th Ranger Regiment, completed the Ranger course, or both. If you apply yourself, you can learn a lot here -- it is up to you. Never, never quit!
