Introduction

Post by JoeDGrinder »

Hello, my name is Aaron and I am a senior at George Mason Unversity. I am currently in the process of enlisting into the Army as an 18X, however due to a personal issue I may go in as an 11X OPT 40 instead.

I have been looking at this site for a week or so specifically the PT Forums for helping getting myself upto snuff and I am looking forward to interacting with the Veterans and currently serving Soldies on this site.

Thank you for your service and support!

Welcome and thanks for your desire to serve our country. Joe, you're all over the place, here. Slow down and do some reading and searching on this site. Get a feel for the way things operate. And read and heed the ROE PM I sent you.

Hello Rangers,

Not sure where else to post this information but, took my ASVAB yesterday and got:

AFQT 94, GT 128, GM 118, EL 121, CL 123, MM 117, SC 121, CO 119, FA 119, OF 119 and ST 123

which thankfully qualify me for an 18x MOS contract, I will be doing my physical on Monday the 7th if things go well and some AIMS test, not sure on the spelling, Wednesday due to my GED but I should be sworn in by next Friday/Saturday at the latest.

I thought you were going to apply for 11X Option 40?

Ranger Jim,

I was looking at going either 11x OPT 40 or 18x depending on what I could get. I was having problems with 18x due to my GED and was gearing up for 11x OPT 40 when I was told 18x became available to me. I will be getting my job reserved next week hopefully so will be able to actually know, providing my recruiter did not lie/make a mistake about my 18x candidacy. This is not anything against going Ranger, something I have always wanted to do and appeals to me greatly as my granfather I am told was a ranger in WWII, the friend I am enlisting with is going 18x and we have sworn we will get through it together (depending on training assignments) or at least both accomplish the goal of Green Beret. The opportunity to even try out for either is a dream come true for me, and no matter what happens I will serve my country with the best of my ability.

Introduction Update

Post by JoeDGrinder »

Hello Rangers,

I am not sure where else to put this but here, as of 16:15 20081212 I am now officially a D.E.P in the US Army with an 18X contract. I have passed my Airborne and Regular Physical, I simply need to take the D.L.A.B. and I have nothing to do but PT my but off untill 20090623 when I will ship out to Ft. Benning. I am thankful for all the help and advice I have received from these boards and will continue on towards my goal.

Thank you Rangers

Six months is plenty of time to prepare, use it wisely.
Read lots, post little. PT more.
You'll figure out Ranger Puck's inference soon enough.
