BAGHDAD - An American Chinook helicopter crashed early Thursday as it was landing in southern Iraq, killing seven U.S. soldiers, the military said.

This got about 20 seconds worth of coverage on national cable news today while the "Ten Best Dressed Stars of 2008" got a 4 or 5 minute feature. The attitude and priorities of society in this country makes me fucking sick to my stomach sometimes.

I saw the aftermath of this crash the day after it happened, I am not an expert on helicopter crashes but before reading anything about it you could pretty much tell no one survived. Many of the men on board were family men.... some sad shit. RIP.
