I'm praying you mis-read it...
I think that's the case.

CBS news did a decent coverage of it tomight.
They mentioned that the opfor initiated from a nearby mosque, of course, without the editorial comment that would've shaded their reporting had we used the mosque to cover an ambush. Lara Logan then had to show a taliban video showing an American getting shot & probably KIA while the bad guys chanted 'alla akbar'.
Sounds like a good fight, considering how outnumbered they seem to have been & that the enemy got to initiate.

This must have been a fight of many heroes and true warriors. I hear that the Taliban broke through but our troops stood ground and repelled the Taliban. Must have been war movie type of fighting! God bless them.

Looks like most of the friendly casualties were taken at the OP.

The 1SG for that unit is a good friend of mine, he is a warrior and I am sure his men fought fiercely.

It was C co, and yes those boys did fight fiercely. We lost a lot of good guys, solid Paratroopers, and brave warriors.

I had an Email exchange with the CSM of 1-503 and he let me know it was Chosen. I am a former Chosen company Paratrooper and I have no doubt they fought!

Maybe I am just being pessimistic....
Negative. Just being realistic. I spent the better part of a year at these spartan FOB's. In particular was Asadabad. The terrain really sucks. They knew better than to attack us directly. However, they used the same tactic of taking out the LP/OP with the Russians a couple of decades ago, but to greater success (i.e. took the base, so the story goes).

Anyway, I am sure that our boys did there jobs well. They sent plenty of jihadists to sleep with their virgins. It just sucks that we lost so many of our brothers.

Here is an interesting article about Battle Company 1/73rd in the same region (Kunar, Assabad) from last fall. It is one of the better articles that I have read regarding Afghanistan. It is rather long.
