RE-4

Post by Haho »

Yeah, a big waiver I know...you'd think I'd fuc... a General's wife and murdered there kids...when I tell a recruiter I'm a RE-4. Was told the Corps is like an ex- if she can't have ya', no one else can. Discouraging, cause petty partying and driking in the Corps, with an "guaranteed" Infantry spot, um...while I serve my 4 as a frikin cook, thank you, uhrah, still pissed after 13 years....got some friends inside, could always use more...."and that's the news, and I'm out of here!" -Dennis Miller

How long ago did you get out? If it hasn't been 2 years, you'll need a waiver for that too.

Not to thread jack (but I am), how do you get classified as "not allowed to re-enlist", but remain active duty? Is that the USMC's version of "time-out"? :)

I have it right now. Sign a Declination of Continued Service Statement AKA the "Deck" statement. I'm sure there are other ways.

In this case, it appears an RE4 is the inability to re-enlist due to an other than honorable offense/issue. (Unfit for military duty). I assume (yep) that the DECK is a voluntary thing for not re-up'ing?

It is a classification placed in his file that basically says the Marine can finish his enlistment but will not be allowed the oppurtunity to re-enlist for whatever reason ie behavior, failure to get promoted, etc etc... serious but not serious enough to throw him in the brig or to throw him out directly.

Sorry about jacking your thread. I just noticed there's an RE-4 discussion in the Mosh Pit.

A DCSS does NOT give you an RE-4, brother. Some serious fucking up while in the Army will pretty much garauntee on though.

I have only seen one RE-4 be able to come back into the Army and it took him abour 4 years start to finish.

He was kicked out for patterns of misconduct, which is an RE-3. After proving that to the appropriate agency, he was able to have his RE Code upgraded then applied for the waiver and was approved. He's a SSG now.

Usually the Corps/Navy gives RE-4 for things the Army would deem an RE-3. This is how we used to put USMC RE-4's into the Army and probably how Jarhed got in. I assume it wil be how this guy gets in as well. Gonna be a long wait for that waiver. I hope you haven't fucked up since being a civilian.
