Somewhere around eleven miles (I think). PT uniform, LBE and boots. It was the last of LTC Jack Nix's "battalion endurance competitions" when he was with 1/508. They trucked us out to Sicily DZ for company events like moving sandbags, and pushing humvees up the DZ with the 1SG's steering. Then began the run back. We were told ~11 miles, but I couldn't say for sure. All I know is that there weren't many bastards left standing in each company when it was finished. Good times. (Glad I don't ever have to do it again....)
