Postby Grandchild of a WW2 Range » August 12th, 2003, 12:16 pm

I have heard something that they outclassed the Navy Seals.
for a site with the marinejegerne go to http://www.marinejeger.no/ . To bad it is in norwegian.

I can translate if you just post the message on this topic.

Jeger means hunter, but in a military way it means Ranger. Just like Ranger bell said.

I just found out that I'm part norwegian..

Anyways yeah I never read up too much on foreign military.. those marinejegers seem top-notch though. Speaking of foreign military, I was watching "Real TV" today (a show of like extreme home videos) and it showed a graduating class of Russian paratroopers go through there initiation and they had to break glass bottles over there heads and be smacked with these giant wooden poles.

RafterMan you are one of the few and the proud.

Those damn russians  They are very strange but most of their special forces soldiers do join the French Foreign Legion. That is one truly special force.

Welcome, Grandchild. Where in Norway do you live? My grandfather was from Stavanger and my grandmother was from Hallingdal.

I've never been over there. I have some distant relatives in Oslo and Stavanger still. The only Norse I know I get out of an English-Norwegian dictionary. My parents go over there just about every year. I hope to visit some day.

Norwegian NAVSOF are a bunch of top notch guys.

Professional, dedicated and intelligent.

I had the pleasure to work with them first hand in '03.

They sure are. Out of the 10 in my platoon at basic only 1 went through to phase 4 out of 6. The rest dropped out on request and one was heard to have broken both feet. He still refused to drop out untill he made it to the finish line. I dont know if the last one is true but he was determined to get to the finish line......... anyhow, the Marinejeger Command is located not far from my base now and when I go visit some of my friends over there the are not very difficult to see who they are :P very professional in every aspect of their daily life.

Just my .02 cents about them :D

I see someone asked you before me to make a intro, this is the 2nd request. There is no # 3 only - banning for failure to make an introduction.

When I was in the guard, I went through the 91W course in Ft. Sam (before he went to the Bragg course) with a guy who was a Marinejegerkommando. He was a stud and had the second highest test scores in our platoon behind me, which is pretty good since English isn't his native tongue.

Anyway, he gave me a badass Marinejegerkommando t-shirt and on the back it lists the "Viking Laws:"

1. Be brave and aggressive
Be direct, grab all opportunities, use varying methods of attack, be versatile and agile, attack one target at a time, don't plan everything in detail, use top quality weapons.

2. Be prepared
Keep weapons in good conditions, keep in shape, find good battle comrades, agree on important points, choose one chief.

3. Be a good merchant
Find out what the market needs, don't promise what you can't keep, don't demand overpayment, arrange things so that you can return.

4. Keep the camp in order
Keep things tidy and organized, arrange enjoyable activities which strengthen the group, make sure everybody does useful work, consult all members of the group for advice.
