Cool Picture

Post by Ranger Ron »

This would really take some forethought to put together. Check out the details.

Ranger Ron, Did the source of that picture give any details of when it was taken or what kind of camera was used?

The mechanics of getting that to all come into proper perspective are daunting. Some of the old large format cameras had special lenses to help with that, but you are right - it would take considerable forethought to pull it off.

No Ma'am, I don't know any of the details. The uniforms would appear to be WWI. There is a copyright on the picture, but I have not tried to check it out. Just thought it was real cool and as you say, not easy to accomplish back in the "Olden days"

Saw this before. All I could think was....some fucked up full bird decided to waste an entire day or two so he could make a print and a Christmas card for his own amusement. Inside it said....see what I made 7000 soldiers do? 8)

You nailed it, Ranger Abell9.

"The photo, taken from the top of a specially constructed tower by a Chicago photography studio, Mole & Thomas, was intended to help promote the sale of war bonds but was never used."

104 degrees in wool uniforms - no wonder many fainted. It's a cool photo, but that's just more than a little messed up.

This must be after the end of WWI and they were waiting to ETS all these troops. So... They took pictures of them. Very artistic pictures.
