Got a phone call from lil bro. Its family day and he's on 36 hour pass. Just a couple weeks left and he's off to jump school.

His last APFT was:
PU 65
SU 62
Run 15:30

His hips are fucking with him. He has no trouble with the muscles, its the joint. He won't go on sick call and is pushing through. He's taking motrin, 1600mg a day and dealing with it. His buddy is a prior service soldier who gets to the PX so I told him to start taking glucosamine but he said right now supplements are a no go. He's calling me back in 24 hours so I will pass on any advice or comments.

The final P.T. Test should be coming up, if he can pass and graduate AIT, wouldn't it be wise to get himself checked out before Jump School.....Especially if it's a joint problem? Maybe a little profile time would be sufficient....Hopefully it won't fuck up his contract....who knows, maybe it will.

Anyway, good luck to him....
I think you can take up to 2400mg (could be wrong)Motrin in a 24hr period.
But take the advice above.

Good luck

Hi, those numbers give him a pt score of 233. If he took one minute off his run (which shouldn't be a problem) score would still only be a 246, ouch. PT test for jump might be a problem let alone the RIP pt. goodluck to him, just give 100%.

Good copy Soldiers Dad, he's 33 so they have been telling him its a 270 or so because of his age but he has kept in his mind he must meet the 18 year old standard. Thanks to the board and his initial fuck up with Ranger Cams he has learned very quickly to STFU and follow advice, so he'll be going to see the docs as soon as they return from FTX and he is on "recovery". He's got the glucosamine and fish oil (I guess there's a swim test  ) and he has upped his motrin and starting to spread it out over the clock per the advice received. He's a stubborn fuck so he won't quit and since he's finally learned to listen I expect him to get it done.

hi, Your right being an old fucker (no disrespect) won't help him a bit after OSUT. Also if he is already at FTX then his conditioning is about at a max. If he makes it thru airborne pt test he probably won't make it thru RIP's. And if he makes to first day of RIP odds are still against him.

If he's going to RIP, they will kick him out of the program, if they find Motrin in his locker. We had a very squared away DEP from this site, who got the boot for exactly that. Hope he heals up.

Thank you EarthPig, I will pass that information on next time he calls at graduation.

Thank you SoldiersDad, I know his odds are long, but I also know if he doesn't make it, it won't be because he quit.

Tell him to keep his chin up and drive on Bulldogg, I was 33 when I hit AIRBORNE and RIP in early 2006, with a lot of drama with my legs. Pass the reqs and don't quit and he will be straight!

Oh and by the way, make sure he knows from one old timer to another it is SO SO worth it!

I got nailed w/ Motrin at RIP in the middle of week 3, and had to recycle to day one and do it all over again. It was an even better time the second go-round. Give him the opportunity to learn from MY mistake.

Got a phonecall from lil bro last night.

He's blue.

He went to the docs and they xrayed his hips, stress fractures both sides so he's a holdover for 30 days before Airborne to heal up. They may or may not send him home on convo leave. I'm putting him on an aquatic workout to keep his cardio improving. His contract is still a GO.
