I like the SCAR better. I checked out both at the SHOT show. There is a link somewhere that shows a demo of the Masada... let me find it.

Visited the folks around Benning and Shooters of Columbus has the regular version of the ACR on the shelf. It has a good feel to it, but the salesman tried to tell me it would in its current configuration would shoot the 5.56, 6.8 and 7.62 x39, not sure about that 7.62x39 part...The safety selector is a little small. Wish I had the chance to shoot it. IT was near the 3 k mark.

Good question. For everybody's edification, Magpul is a US company, located here in Colorado. I did some surfing and discovered that giving weapons names offensive to Israel isn't new; Iranian arms companies have done it before. Why a US company would seemingly do the same thing is a bit of a mystery. In any case, it's a nice looking weapon, no doubt about it.

I have played with the SCAR in school and loved it. One thing I like about the MASADA (haven't been able to put my hands on one yet) is the ease of changing the barrels and thus the caliber. The SCAR is 5.56 only or 7.62 only with the ability to change only the length of the barrel (and not done as easily as the MASADA).

Once I get to play with one, I am thinking that it will probably seal the deal for me and I will end up getting one.

edited to add:

As far as the name goes, maybe it was the idea of preferring death over surrender that was the reason that they picked it. Still, going down fighting to the last soul would make it a little more meaningful to the purpose.

Magpul designed it but didnt have the means to produce in in any quantity. They sold the rights to it and it is now produced by Bushmaster and Remington under the Freedom Group tag. FYI. Suggested price runs about $2,600-$2,800. For a 5.56 and 6.8 conversion, it had better gives blow jobs for that fucking price. And yes, it was renamed as the SCAR.

They had the ACR as one of the stage guns at the Fort Benning 3 Gun this past December. Each of us shot 10 rounds out of it at the start of the stage, and there was alot of reshoots due to jams. They had two of them on site and by the time I shot the stage one of them was down for good. Not sure what the issue was, but I think those weapons where the test weapons that had quite a few rounds down them so not sure how these things are gonna hold up.
