My name is Boliver. I have already been sworn in and ship out Nov. 14th to Ft. Jackson, SC. I will be a 56M chaplain's assistant. I am 22 years old. I am the current music minister at Trinity Baptist Church. Yes, I am religious. In fact, I am getting licensed into the Gospel Ministry this Sunday. I preach occassionaly. My plans are to continue my education, get my graduate degree in theology and become a full-blown chaplain. I don't take the job lightly as some might. I consider it a calling and an honor to be one. Yes, I want to go airborne ranger. The recruiters told me that I should request those things during AIT when I start talking to counselors. After reading numerous posts here, I see that I should have gotten this put in my contract. I know that there is a mobile recruiting team for airborne school that I might get into, but I am not sure about ranger school. I am still reading alot on this webiste, so if someone wouldn't mind showing me if I can still get in somehow or at least point me towards the correct thread that would be appreciated.

Why ranger? Because they are the best. I watn the prestige, honor, and respect that is associated with rangers. I received my first taste of what the rangers are all about several years ago, when I watched the best ranger competition on TV. My grandfather was in the National Guard and began to tell me many stories about the rangers. Since then I have looked up to the rangers and what they stand for. When I finally decided to join the army, I wanted to be associated with the best.

Do I know that it will be hard and that ranger school is brutal? Yes, I understand that and that is another reason why I want to be a ranger. I want the challenge. I have challenged myself in many ways throughout my life, and I see this as one of the ultimate ones.

I do perform 500-1000 pushups a day. My form is very good. At one point I was competing in powerlifting and learned proper form from a hall of fame powerlifter (Rickey Dale Crain). I have applied the knowledge from powerlifting onto my pushup form.

Good luck kid. I think you've got the right stuff. For God's sake, don't let those stupid, fucking retards at Jackson fuck you up. It took me 5 years to recover from that post.

Look up Mathew 8:5 and read the story of the Centurion, after Jesus had entered Capernum!

My reason for pointing that out is that if a Ranger tells me something, I am willing to believe it until someone proves otherwise.
Word.

The second is that the Centurion is one of us, another faithful soldier.

Did I ask you a question padre? No, I don't think I did. Go read.
Ranger Cams, I know you didn't ask me the question. I am sorry. I didn't see anything wrong with me giving my personal feelings about the subject.
Boliver
If we want your personal feelings on something, you will be asked a direct question.

I gave you very simple instructions, two words, GO READ.

Before you become a Chaplain in the military, you must first learn to follow instructions and soldier just like everyone else.

Don't get me wrong young one, I have the utmost respect for our Chaplains, ours of which I watched jump into a hot DZ without a rifle, that is pure balls and faith in his Ranger Brothers and GRITS.

Now follow instructions and good luck on your journey.

Ranger Cams, I will do. I see the mistake I made. You asked a question to yourself, not to me or anyone else. Thank you for pointing out the mistake and I won't make it again.

"Be still and learn."

Is that biblical enough?

Now just quietly go about what you have been instructed. To provide an example of what Cams is talking about; don't respond to this note. Just read it and absorb what I told you.

I want to be the best, blah, blah, blah. Know this buddy; I've seen alot of guys who read some crap about David (God's appointed King) and think they are the next defender of God's word. Let me tell you it is not the case. You will be given orders by mortal men to kill other men wheater it is right or not. That is what you are accepting. The laws of man over the laws of God, so understand that before you become the next pussy conciencious objector to get court marshalled. I am a christian myself and let me tell you it isn't easy. It is unfortunate, but when you face God and he asks why you killed these men, your answer is going to be, because my squad leader told me to. If you think God will accept that as an answer, you'll be fine.

If your a true follower of God, status should mean nothing to you.

Good Luck!

AMEN!

You seem to have good intentions kid, now stop posting for awhile and go read as you've been directed (repeatedly).

The only Ranger Chaplain I remember was an outstanding example and an absolute stud. They are a special breed of man.

Good luck.

Good luck. It is possible to do a tour in Batt. and stay true to your beliefs. I remember we had a team leader who was very religeous but you wouldn't know by talking to him. He let his actions do the preaching by staying away from the booze, broads, etc. I believe he and other evangelical Rangers would have a bible study together. Remember this though; unless you are a concientious objector (and I don't think they let them in the Regt. anyway.. ) you very well may be called on to kill people with malice and forethought. Every Ranger is a shooter first. However, if the chaplains & medics are putting rounds downrange, things are very bad...and yes, the chaplains and & assistants I saw in the Regiment were some of the toughest cats I've ever seen..
