In my relentless pursuit of some sort of decision about enlisting, I keep finding myself back at the same spot.

What happens if I join because I want to serve my country during a time of war....and all of a sudden the war ends?

I mean, what do I do if right in the middle of basic training the whole reason I joined becomes a moot point? What exactly is the role of a "soldier" if not to fight a war?
