Welcome Sir! Be advised, Lefty has an operational plan that may lead to some discomfort and deprivation, proceed with caution! Sort of a "WIRIP" pre-screening program, be interesting to see if you take up the challenge?

Oh yea, and don't forget Ranger Silverback's "self-awareness" process either. 8)

Second off - Do as the others have told you already

Third off - If you are back here in WI, try practicing for skool by going out to a deerstand this Friday with just the clothes on yer back, NO FOOD, no camping gear, and sit out there until late Sunday nite. DON'T SLEEP!! If it rains, so much the better, stay out there. While sitting out there, pull a poncho over your head on the second nite about three am, and write some five paragraph op orders with all appendices by red filtered flashlite.
For a little variety, go swimming/wading in the Wisconsin River this weekend around two am, but don't show any lites!
If you like it, repeat every weekend until the river freezes.

If you don't get it, I have 150 acres in NW WI where we can practice a little.

Oh, and do not use a GPS either.
I appreciate the welcome Rangers.

Ranger Lefty, I may know 2 LT's who would take you up on that offer sometime before school.

Sure - send two of your pals instead of trying it yourself, eh?

Simple exercise - have you/your pals leave your vehicles at a predetermined site, meet me at my property with your gear. I give you/them a simple land nav problem. From Point A, find Point B, accomplish something, then find me at Point C. Also tell you/them simulate E&E.
About five minutes after you/them get started, I call the sheriff, tell him I have armed trespassers on my land, and I am in fear for my life. Then I arrange to meet the deputies at Point C. When/If you are caught, I never saw you before in my life. If you evade the deputies, you pass!!!

Forget the Sheriff...let Slowpoke, Steadfast and a few other RVN era LRRP/Rangers chase his/their asses. Be good to see if we FOG's can still outmaneuver these FNG's! Add's a little excitement to an E&E/Land Nav exercise. Any pre-Batt boys up for the challenge?

Should have pointed out something - I wouldn't tell them anything about the sheriff ahead of time. I would have waited until they were into the woods and made the call as an unannounced "surprise"

Kind of like an exercise we did in 6th SFG out near Dugway UT in 1969 - we had teams all over the desert when an O6 said Why don't we plan a POW camp raid to free some POWs? And a staff pogue said Where will we get some POWs? Simple, O6 said - just betray one of the teams.

But hey, with a little effort, there is no end of surprises that can be worked into a "simple" FTX. hehehehe
