Price of gas!

Post by Chiron »

We are now between $5.09 and $6.95 a gallon depending on if it’s regular/super/premium.

From the start of summer we have hovered around $4/$5 a gallon. Now it's starting to get bad.

$2.93 here... In a couple of places (Hy-Vee, Casey's) you can get it for less. It did break 3 for a short time and then just as fast dropped back down...

Supply lines are slowly being re-established in the South plus the panic has subsided. In the North we are getting gasoline from Canada.

I dread tomorrow, as I have to fill the tank. I found a cheap gas station that sells at $5 a gallon. It will take me $60 to fill up.

Ouch!!! We've dropped back down another nickel to $2.94 a gallon. However, it's just because the holiday weekends over without quite the usage that was expected, plus the promise of extra shipments and production of oil from Suadi, Kuwait and Japan. (Those were the big three this round to assist in the restabilization of our market, all to keep their markets stabiled too of course. However it is good to see the globalization working both ways...) Anyway, I am concerned that we won't even remotely change our habits. Keeping in mind that companies like Exxon and BP are making record profits (not hurt by this Hurricaine), showing a profit last month alone of some 750million and 880 milllion respectively. (I am not sure of these numbers as they were given to me by an outside source, I do know that their margins were extreme, sincerely extreme.) So, if we don't change or begin to change even moderately, we should see that these companies are not willing to give even an inch back to the US economy which has made them wealthy beyond imagination.

Something to think about,
To run our race car we buy the usual pump gas at the station at around what ever the price is on the street for our 8 gal tank that last all night.
But for the guys that run the hotter cars that need to run a type of racing gas they have been paying around $5:50 to almost $8:00 a gal And they run between 10 and 25 gal tanks for which they fill at least twice a night. .
We spend about 15 on gas compared to there 25-50 + a race night.

Oh by the way we are out running them also
