scroll ??

I got a tonk today with a surplus BDU top on and my SOP is to cut off any patches that are still on them, well this fucker today had a scroll on his left sholder, no other patches or marks from old patches on uniform. BDU top appeared to be an old winter weight top but not sure. I have not seen this scroll before

it had 1st and BN in the regular spot, but in the center it has SPARTAN over RANGER, does anyone know if it is legit or from a south american military, the quality is not supper great and it is a thinner patch like the older grenada scroll, will post a pic tomorrow

Doesn't one of the colleges in Southern California use 'Spartans' as thier team name? It was probably their ROTC.

The only thing I remember was the Spartan Tab that they were talking about authorizing back in '89, '90, '91 or so. It was suppose to be for SF and Ranger qualified soldiers. It combined both Tabs into one. But as far as I know it got nixed. Never heard anything about a schroll.
