every year we go out to family's (my dad's side) house over at the local lake and set of fireworks, eat, and play horseshoes. Its usually a pretty big thing because everyone starts saving money for fireworks the day after the last years events. And of course its always great to see uncles and such.

I'll be out on First Aid Standby with the Rescue Squad at our county's day long festival of sorts on the lake, culminating in the fireworks show. Sixteen glorious hours of watching for drowning drunks and the elderly doing the dying cockroach.
You guys that are gonna be on the road, be careful.

Drunk on the back porch burning steaks and hanging with the wife, son and a few friends watching the big fireworks show at Pike's Peak International Raceway on the 3rd. (great view from the house).
Recovery day on the 4th, where I will call my veteran and currently serving friends and say thanks again.
Happy Birthday!

Over the weekend, I working an event that I've been helping put together for the past few months... Part of the Kansas City RiverFest, this year we are having a Freedom Walk to benefit the 'Military Assistance Program'. A motorcycle and car show, pancake breakfast, cajun food and to top it off, Kenni Thomas and Cornbread are performing on the 3rd. (I even get to be his liaison while he's here in KC... Some day's it's good to be me, I am looking forward to getting to meet him and more importantly thank him for his generous support of our event.) See one of the Press Release's below:

KC RiverFest Freedom Walk, July 3 at Berkley Riverfront Park
Make Sunday, July 3, a special time to celebrate your family, the great outdoors, and the brave efforts of the military by joining in the KC RiverFest Freedom Walk. Beginning at the Berkley Riverfront Park, on the south bank of the Missouri River between the Heart of America and Paseo bridges, the Freedom Walk requires no training, just the time to enjoy a fun-filled walk and pancake breakfast. Plus, your efforts will go toward helping military personnel from Kansas and Missouri.
President Bush recently said, “I urge every American to find some way to thank our military and to help out the military family down the street.â€

I think we are going to try and see the fireworks in either Anchorage or Fairbanks. Should be fun since I can still read outdoors at 0300, with no additional light. That or a last minute trip to Nevada to see the MIL
Someone needs to teach the regular Army how to make a packing list.
