Attn Active 75th Rangers

Post by airbornepog »

Whats up Rangers? I have been searching this site for info on the Ranger support company. I am an A/C tech on orders to go to the 75th Ranger regiment. I don't know what I am going to be doing. I emailed one of my Black Hats from airborne school who was a Ranger and asked him, and he said I will go to RIP when I get there, and then go to HHC in one of the battalions to work in the motor pool. (Providing I make it through RIP!)
I am confident I will, but not over confident. Every thing I have done so far in the army has been way too easy, and I know RIP is going to be a wake up call. I have been running a lot more after work and hitting the gym getting ready, also rucking on Saturday, but after two years in a bitch ass signal unit, I know I am gonna get a big fucking wake up call in RIP, and the Rangers in general. Most of my NCOs here aren't worth a damn, and military courtesy is pretty much non-existent over here. We just got a new 1SG in from the 82nd, and he is working on getting the company back into shape, but its a hard job with this bunch.
I searched one site online about Ranger support and it said the company doesn't deploy with the Rangers......Is that true? Can anyone tell me if I am going to be in a Ranger Bat? And if I am sqaured away and make it through RIP will I get a chance to go to Ranger School? Or is it pretty much a no go for support to go? The RTB site says anyone assigned to the 75th can go to Ranger school, but my question is, is that a real possibility, or just something the army puts down on paper?

RTB is the proponent for Ranger school, if the web site says you can go then you can go!

Hello Rangers, I am going to post what I have heard. Things are going to change in Ranger BNs. Support unit soldiers are being assigned to Ranger Bn's without going thru RIP. They will be able to wear the Bn Scroll of the Bn they get assigned to. They will not be able to wear the Coveted Tan Beret. They will get no chance to go thru RIP. They will get no chance to go to Ranger School. They will not be considered Rangers even though they are assigned to Bn. They will not be deployed with Ranger Bns. They will be there for one reason, to support the Rangers of Bn. Have heard that some of these support soldiers have already reported to Ranger Bns. soldiersdad

Not sure who you heard that from, but that doesnt seem plausible.

Dad,
Thanks for the information except...We do not support the transferance of "hearsay" as fact. The reason I used the word hearsay is because I was personally present during a conversation concerning these soldiers and I can tell you that a few of your facts are blatantly false. It sounds to me like what you heard is simply idle barracks chatter. Please refrain from providing information you do not have first hand knowledge of.

This is the gist of an informal discussion. RIP is planned to be an option, it wasn't clear when or how but the opportunity to allow the support soldiers to earn their Ranger beret was discussed.

Well whatever it is.....I want that tab! I know I am a pogue, and that I have made some enemies on this board, but fuck it. I take the army seriously, and I am so pumped up to be going to a unit like the 75th. My father was in the 1st Cav in Nam, did 2 tours, saw a lot of action.....and even though he advised me to take a MOS that had civillian applications (I was gonna go 11B but at the time they were not givin RIP contracts), I feel like no matter what I do in the service, I will not be living up to his sacrifice. He lost his best friend over there, and the chance to be a Ranger would be a huge honor to me and my father. Of course, he tells me he doesnt care if I go or not, but I know, as a previous 11B, with a SHITLOAD of combat experience (most than most people on this board, I'd like to add, with the most respect) He would be very proud of me if I do this. Like I said before, I am not a punk, and you Rangers talk a lot of shit, and maybe I come off as cocky or stupid or whatever......but I want you to know I have a hell of a lot of respect for all of you, and I admire the shit out of all of you who wear the tab. I really want the chance to wear it one day.

Young man,
Your characterization of us is inflammatory. You make one more post like this and I will have the unenviable task of removing you from this site. Do I make myself clear?

P.S.
The response of "Yes Sergeant" will suffice.

Well, I meant nothing inflammatory. I gave the Rangers a lot of respect. I respect anyone who wore the uniform. And the Rangers on this board do talk a lot of shit. They flamed the hell out of me for my story at airborne school, and for everything since. You proved my point by honing in on that one statement instead of all the positive things I said about all of you in that post. I give respect to all of you, whether in my COC or not. If you want to ban me for that post, which gave honor to my father and his sacrifice, go ahead. I don't apologize for anything in that post. I give all the Rangers who wear the tab my highest respect. I envy all of you. You guys are the example I try to emulate every day, and you are what I want to be when I go to the board and get stripes real soon. I would never disrespect any NCO or officer, especially one with a Ranger tab. I am a good soldier, pogue or not, and I will do my best in the 75th. If you want to delete me from this board, do it, but know that I would never disrespect any Ranger. You people are my idols.

Flaiming on this board happens. This board is meant for Former, Present and future Rangers. Not sure how your parents prepared you for this but....we are not normally consider "nice" by people that meet us. You are simply a visitor.

The point is this, there is an established set of rules on this site and I couldn't care less if you had made 20,000 posts telling us how much you love and respect rangers and included that sentence in only one of them. You violated the rules! I corrected you! You continue to QUIBBLE WITH ME AND YOU ARE SIMPLY GONE!

Envy is not a motivator that will increase your chances of becoming a Ranger. Envy is an "Action-free" emotion and does not provide the mental impetus required to do the things we do. If you are a good soldier then you surely know when to stop speaking and listen.
