1SG rgrpuck,

Does the Army have an IST (initial strength test) like the Corps does? I know we had to do pullups, crunches and a 1.5 mile run.. if you didn't meet the standards your ass got sent to the physical conditioning platoon until you could pass a half PT test.

To answer JarHedSolja,
I'm not entirely sure if this is correct, apoligies if it isnt, but I believe to get a rank as a DEP you have to do 47 Push-ups and 53 sit-ups in 2 minutes, and a 14:27 on your two mile run.Not sure if that really helps with the minimum, but I honestly dont know it. My apoligies once again, that is for the APFT.

medicap, to get the rank in DEP you have to score a 60 on each event. (thats what I read in the book they gave us at MEPS)

so 42 pushups, 53 situps, and the 2 mile run in 15:54

We've been doing IST's here before we ship. We have PT at 0600 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until we ship that lasts about 2-3 hours at a time.

I believe the Corps standards for IST are:

Males
Pull-Ups: 5 pull ups
Crunches: 50 minimum
1.5 Mile Run: 15 minutes or less

Females
Flexed Arm Hang: 15 seconds
Crunches: 50 minimum
1.5 Mile Run: 15 minutes or less

But that's what our recruiter makes us do but expects us to do 100 crunches every time and hit an 11 minute run. All of our male poolees our doing atleast 12 pull ups and the females are doing atleast 45 second flexed arm hangs.

we had direct comission officers coming in to medical OBC unable to do a single sit-up. I would ask them "how in hell do you get up in the morning when you cant do a single sit-up" "SERIOUSLY! How do you sit up out of bed? do you just roll off the side and hope to god you land with your feet on the floor?"

As bad as you think these slugs are, try leading PT for a bunch of fucking nurses straight out of nursing school with no ROTC, no prior enlisted time, nothing.
