That's a connection I don't even have.My big issue is that I have not taken up US citizenship yet and I want to go in on an 18x contract. My recruiters are looking into the citizenship process and how quickly we can get it done.
And I was "handling" a VIP in the INS department.
You're goin 11x/ABN, bud.
Welcome.

Brother, great post and I am now simply going to say to the young man who is on the experiencing end of the apiffany, "Neither waste this experience, nor the chance at the advise you have the chance to receive here."
Welcome, good luck and Godspeed.

Thanks Rangers and all others. SFC hit_it, my recruiter is waiting to hear back from someone this week as to what they can do. They are great people down there, but I get the impression this isn't something they have dealt with before (they told me i did not need to be a citizen to go for Ranger training, etc), so I am being catious and any advice would be welcome. If I need to post this in a different forum to continue, let me know and I will do that. Whatever happens, I am going to take advantage of this opportunity in my life. I am willing to wait to go in if necessary (more time to prepare!) - or to go airborne and take the other options down the road when I get the chance. If anyone has any advice on the best way to go I would greatly appreciate it. Ranger IntelToad PM Inbound. Thanks Again all.

Hey you!
Yeah you!
Pay attention.
You need to submit the INS form N400.
DO IT NOW.
Do not wait for your recruiter, you can find it on the INS web-site and down load it.
Also down-load the form G-325-b (biographical information)
Now, THIS IS FUCKING IMPORTANT!!!
Down-load also the INS form N426 (request naturalisation for service member)
guard it with your life.
Make three copies of every thing!
The fees for INS processing run into the hundreds of dollars THE N426 WAIVES THE FEES for service members. It also moves you to the top of the pile. It expedites the process.
Fill out your N400 and submit it now, it goes to Mesquite,Texas.
Fill out one copy of your N426 and have the regional recruiting commander sign off on it that you are "serving honorably".
This form gets submitted to Nebraska.
YOU MUST SUBMIT BOTH.
The recruiting command will balk at signing this for you.
Tell them you want a personal interview the INS POC at the nearest AD military post. EVERY POST HAS ONE!!!
Have your recruiter take you there.
If recruiting command will not sign off on the N426 take your remaining copies to OSUT with you.Have your CO at OSUT sign off and fill in the blocks as per unit of assignment.
Send to Nebraska.
Take your third copy of your N426 to your first receiving unit after OSUT and have the CO fill that one out and submit it.
Remember, your N400 is already in Texas it the INS receiving center, when Nebraska gets your N426...you just became an INS VIP.
You N400 goes to the front of the line.
Your INS POC at your gaining unit is supposed to track this for you.
You must track them. You must be your own subject matter expert on this.
START THIS NOW.
WITHOUT THE N426 this process takes at least two years.
The N426 speeds it to several months.
Make sure you have your A# handy at every step of the process.
If you're stupid say you're fucking stupid and pm me your address and I will send the shit to you.
I have all this shit on file.
Hurry up.
GO!

Some of that recruiter sideways talking no doubt. Not a lie, just not what you're intent on doing. They are great people down there, but I get the impression this isn't something they have dealt with before (they told me i did not need to be a citizen to go for Ranger training, etc), so I am being catious and any advice would be welcome.
No, you do NOT need to be a citizen to attend Ranger school. Ranger Kilted Heathen is proof of that. By the way you better heed his fucking advice, he knows what he's talking about.
You DO, however, need to be a US citizen to serve in the Ranger Regiment, which is what your imply as being your goal. And is what an option 40 contract is. Which, right now, you're not eligible for.
You can't sign a contract for Ranger school stud, don't let anyone tell you that bullshit. It just is NOT TRUE.
The recruiters you're working with are just trying to get you to the floor (MEPS) with the intent of pressuring you to take whatever.
Know the game before you get fucked with no vaseline.
