Hey "stud" (condescending non term of endearment, synonomous with fucktard), with all the training you have in front of you, what the fuck are you doing worrying about uniform articles? Please don't tell me thats why you are getting into this life, for berets and patches. What LRSD unit are you being assigned to (assuming you get there)?

This fucking turd should be banned.

There is a time and place for self confidence... he has gone no where yet, and he is overflowing with it.

Rangering is in your heart, not what is on your head. There is a reason why the military awards you the "pieces of flair", and that is becasue they are going to beat the shit out of you with requirements. These requirements are actually going to be worse than a beat down, involving significant emotional and physical events. These will never end once you have "graduated" whatever you have graduated. Even in a peace time military, friends are going to die. In war it is going to be even worse.

From your question I can see that you are focusing on short term victories. Instead, you should be focusing on long term survival.

What you do in the military WILL follow you when you either complete an enlistment or retire.

This web site was not around when I enlisted and the lessons learned here, like PT standards and insights on what is yet to come, are an asset.

If your goal is only to look like a Christmas tree, then you will fail. I can tell you from experience that Haji, in either Iraq or Afghanistan, will not care whether you are straight up killer with all of the "pieces of flair" or a paper pushin' "Fobbit-fuck" put on temporary security escort - The Hajis are going to treat you the same either way.

The price for being a dressed up phoney in peace time would equate to smoke sessions, RFS'd and being labeled a problem child. In war, being a phoney equates to death or dismemberment to either you or your comrades.

On a side note: I am proud of the few "pieces of flair" that I earned, but to be honest with you, they are a real fuckin' pain in the ass and expensive to "sport" correctly. The beret, whatever color it is, must be shaved and shaped by you -- with you -- sporting a weekly fresh high and tight in order for it to look right. The more badges you earn the more questions you have to answer + the expense of purchasing it twice: Once for your BDU/ACU's, then again with for your Class A's. You also get to be scrutinized by the leadership before, during and after you wear them.

Badges look good, but then I have seen badge hunters turn into total dog shit when the fight came.

Think before you ask fucked up questions ------ and to quote Bravo57:

"Shut the Fuck Up"!!!!

Ranger Madslashers1-2,

I understand with all the motivated posers on this board, it is easy to assume that all I care about is patches/berets/and all the other fancy smancy stuff...I am not and would never join the military for those stupid ass reasons. Those are just bonuses that may come along the way in life while pursuing my dream to become something bigger than myself and to serve. The only reason I asked the beret question was so that I can be 1 fact brighter, which I now am. Better for me to have as much knowledge as possible now than later. Also, I would have never said what I said to Ranger Oto-Man if I thought anybody would have seen it as disrespectful, I was simply accepting his challenge in a motivated tone of voice, never disrespectful. I am joining the MDNG 29th Inf. Div. E Co. 629th MI Batt.(LRSD). I will be re-enlisting next week at MEPS. If you have any questions or advice for me I would sincerely appreciate it, just PM me.

Ranger Doc Cook,

I just want to thank you for the motivating and inspiring comment. I want to assure you I am not a badge hunter, just a productive US citizen looking to do his part in serving his country by being the best infantryman I can possible. The only reward I wish to obtain is the title US Army Infantryman. All the other badges and stuff will come if and when they come. My only dream is to do my part in war, so that many others can come home safely. I hope this paints a clearer picture of me.

I will now shut the fuck up as I have been told by the Rangers!!

I liked it when he talked shit. A little fire in the gut never hurt. Just be careful in your application. Think point weapon, not area.

Thank you for your desire to serve. It takes a tremendous amount of immaturity and inexperience to make your "no disrespect" smart-ass comment to a man who has been there and back, even if it is with a smile on your face. You are not his equal, nor the equal to any other Ranger or Veteran on this site. Save your wise cracks for your playground buddies.
