Okay here is were we stand. The New Democracy (right wing) will form a coalition with the PASOK socialist party to form a government. They both combined have enough seats in parliament to do this. The problem will be deciding on who will become prime minister. It may become an argument between the two traditional “enemies” which we will see tomorrow.

The Radical left has gone from 16.8% in the 6 May elections to 27.5%. That will be a big problem in 6 months when we have elections again. I’ll revert on this.

The Golden Dawn fascist party went from 21 seats to 18. But still remains a threat.

The two other communist parties have different ideologies (Marxist vs a more liberal party) and I don’t see a coalition between them.

Now, if in 6 months this government can’t satisfy the people and their needs in that folks are really going broke and hunger/crime is on a climb…. The next elections in six months will place the Radical left (communists) in power. (God help us)

They speculate in a worst case scenario that if all things go bad and in 6 months the left becomes 1st party that the fascist will also have a huge increase but no one speculates yet on how much.

So the urgent hurdle is passed, now it becomes the work of government to set things right. If they can.

Pack your bags dude. I think we'll always have room for a former Ranger and his family on these shores. BTW Have you ever read "The Black Book of Communism"?

It saddens me that this is going on in the birth place of Democracy and Western Civilization.

Stay safe brother.

The two pro bailout parties being the right wing and the socialist party in a coalition have the majority. A government has not been formed yet because the socialist party wants the Democratic Left about 6 % of the vote (Left - communist) in this new government. That in order some of the left which is a big percentage gets to play “government” also… Remember about 36% of the people belong to one communist party or another. They can’t have them in the streets rioting every time they feel like it.

We see democracy at its best here. We have liberals, conservatives, socialist, communist all in the same government. Even the fascist get to sit in parliament (and sometimes get to beat on communists)

If they finish with forming a government by tomorrow and get to work maybe things will work out.

Imagine last night I sat at my brother in law’s balcony drinking a beer with…. A conservative, a liberal, a communist and a socialist and we all agreed on the pro bailout. One of the guys is in one of the ministries.

The important thing is for people to sit and talk.

I have too much invested here. Two homes that can't be sold in this crisis and not enough cash to move. I will stay and if required fight in the end.... ((If things get sparky)

Good for you. The most socially redeeming activity I've ever engaged in was killing those communist bastards.

The babes I met in Athens tried to steal from me, how romantical.
Now they may even do more for you. Like....... taking some vital organs from you and sell them on the black market.
