SITREP - Cherry LT

Post by Shadow »

Good afternoon all,

Been a little while since I posted in the public forums. I managed to branch Infantry and was commissioned yesterday. I am now a new cherry 2nd LT.

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to all the Rangers and Veterans here for sharing advice and insight. I began reading this forum years ago and it provided me with the knowledge to get a headstart on my peers and the determination to maintain that edge. I think the most important thing these forums have taught me, as well as my cadre, is to stay humble enough to know that I have a lot to learn. I think that's important for any new officer.

I still have my eyes on the Ranger tab and am more determined than ever to succeed and be my best. the Basic Officer Leader Courses are a bit backed up right now so I don't leave for a little while but I'll use that time to maintain my PT score and do all the reading I can.

Again, thanks everyone.

I spent my first 2 years of ROTC at PSU Abington. In fact, my old PMS is still there.

Congrats!

How long has PSU Abington gone down to Widener for ROTC? If my memory serves me correctly they were their own entity back in 02-03. Spent my whole life in Abington with the exception of college and the little field trip I'm on now.

I went up to main campus in '97 and the Abington detachment was still part of the Penn State program when I graduated in 1999. I think the switch is within the last 2-3 years. Stupid, if you ask me. Abington cadets were disproportionately IN branched.

I was born in Abington hospital. My grandfather was the Southhampton Chief of Police in the 60s and 70s. The family relocated up 611 a ways to north of Doylestown.

Penn State Abington joined us in 2007. I went to Penn State Delco (now known as PSU Brandywine as of a year or two ago) for my freshman year. Then switched to Widener because it was the host school. I visited all the campuses in our battalion a few times since I was the CSM and BN CDR this past year as a senior. Abington is a pretty cool place if you know where to hang out. We also got a new PMS this year and he taught us a lot. Glad we got to learn from him before we were all commissioned.
