Tattoos in RIP/Batt.

Post by Rabidus1 »

Rangers,

I just recently handed my enlistment package over to the RA because the MDNG was BSing with my RE:3 waiver. So now that I am going RA, I WILL be reserving an 11X OPT.40 as soon as my new RA recruiter gets my package squared away"which he says will be no more than 2 weeks."

I have a full tattoo sleeve on my left arm not visible below the wrist. Is this a possible disqualifier in RIP or in Batt.? Non of my tattoos are racist, sexist, nudity, gang related, etc...I have a spider web on my elbow, but it doesnt represent anything other than a spur of the moment idea for a elbow piece. Ive already gone to MEPS and been completely screened, and was given a GO for my tattoos. Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.

Keep your sleeves rolled down and resist more tatoos. Of course, that is just a generational comment. Very few men in my age group have tatoos. Yes, there are exceptions -- one guy I know has a Cambodian prayer on his back (completely covers his back). But that's the exception.

It won't be a problem, in my opinion, unless the stuff is on your neck or hands.

Why would you ever want tatoos that weren't sexist or nudity??

Regiment has no policy against Tattoos other than what the DA puts out. Lots of people here now have Tats. They think it's cool. I'll tell you you are probably wasting your money. Unless you're like that one guy in the movie Momento.

As long as you're not a tool, you'll fit in just fine at 2/75 :)

Tatts as ID

Post by panthersix »

The only way a buddy's parents could ID his body after he was decapitated in Iraq was by the tattoos on his legs. I never had any tatts until I found that out, then went and got one on my right arm and left leg where I didn't have any scars. Gives the folks at home closure if you come home in pieces.

Huh? I'm no mortuary affairs dude, but I would fucking hope that a positive ID was made on the soldier's body BEFORE telling the soldier's family.

Be sure to have a Ranger Scroll tattoo on you before you get to RIP. They will love you for it.

Oh yeah Mortuary Affairs did a fine job. But the family just wanted to make sure and they had a bunch of Marines around drunk enough to open the closed casket and check out his tatts.

They still take DNA samples for 100% ID.

The spider web was stupid but I'm guessing you know that already. You should not have a problem because of tatoos.
