Navy Seal training vs. Ranger School
Navy Seal training vs. Ranger School
2 days ago I talked to the local Recruiter about obtaining the Opt. 40 in the upcoming future. He started to lecture me about the rigors and stresses that one is put through in Ranger School. Now what he told me next I wasnt sure was true. He had said, "Ranger School is just as hard as the Navy Seal training, if not harder". Now Im not saying Ranger School is easy, FAR FROM IT, but I was under the impression that the Navy Seals recieve the most difficult training in the world. Was this recruiter bullshiting me or is this really how Ranger School sizes upto the Navy Seals?

No, SEAL training is not harder than Ranger Training, and BEING a SEAL is not harder than being a Ranger, but the missions are different, so you're comparing apples to oranges. SEAL training is a whole different animal than Ranger training.
So, to clarify, here is NO tougher training than Ranger training - different perhaps, but not tougher.

I went too Ranger school with some SEALS. They said that RAP week was worse than hell week. They thought Ranger school was hell.

My opinion...
Seal Training allows individuals to shine whereas Ranger School should be called "The Great Equalizer" becuase it don't matter what a stud you were before it started...At the end all Rangers look the same (like shit), Smell the same(like a 2months old Dead Donkey) and Dream about the same things (food).

I threw a training aid at some SEALS at Benning after I observed their feeble fuckin' attempts at an ambush.
And no...they weren't RS students, they were an operational boat team.
Five SEALS were in my RS class and two made it to grad.
They tend to be technique driven rather than driven by doctrine.
That's fuckin' fatal in our profession.
Yeah,even the NAVDEP think I'm rude. :D
NAVSWDEP-Naval Special Warfare Center Developmental Studies Group.
NAVDEP for short and they know enough to come to the experts.
Not much fuckin' more though...
GrumbleandGrunt listen when I tell you to shut your cake hole.

Ranger BadMuther, thank you for that assignment, here is what i have learned:
Army Rangers
After Operation Urgent Fury, the U.S. Army Rangers took part in Operation Just Cause Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia, and now Afghanistan and Iraq.
Navy Seals
After Operation Urgent Fury, the Navy Seals participated in: "Operation 2"-rescueing a man at a sea. "Operation 3"- which was to support elements of European forces in BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA. Seals were also used in reconnaissance missions in Afghanistan and Iraq.
In general I suppose, the Rangers do the major fighting, while the Seals survey the situation for the incoming Rangers.
Im sure there are more operations both the Rangers and Seals have conducted, but these were the big ones that i found searching through google. This is definatly a crude awakining into reality, the Navy Seals are not as prestigous as I had initialy thought, and my respect for the Army Rangers has grown just that much more to realize that they are the "Unsung Heroes" of the Warrior Elite. You Rangers do not get the credit you desreve.

You can do better than that.
Research some more on the subject.
I am not particularly impressed and Ranger BM will not be either.
A brief statement does not mean without substance.
Let me help you along.
Why don't SEALS do airfield seizures?
Oh BTW the Rangers don't need or use the SEALS to survey shit.
The Rangers have their own to do that and they're watching you.
Don't suppose.Just report.
