Sitrep - Geoff

Postby Dntwishforitwrkforit » June 16th, 2012, 7:43 am

We are currently preparing for Tower Week. I'm glad I'm still here as I have a near crippling fear of heights and am glad I've been able to overcome so far. My 2 mile is down close to 12 minutes and I'm focusing on getting it below 12 for Pre-RASP. As of right now it looks like we'll be in Pre-RASP until mid August after we graduate ABN. I have a real solid group of men from my OSUT platoon who are going to RASP with me, so we've stayed close and continue to work and motivate each other. We had about ten guys drop their Opt 40 the first day of ABN which blew my mind, but motivated the hell out of me that that is one less young buck that this slightly older guy has beaten out. We're all still highly motivated and ready to get the show going on. Thank you Rangers for continuing to let me post here and observe the posts and be able to learn from them. I will update this next weekend and start a new topic in the RASP section when we get there.

Keep driving on youngster and don't associate with any quitters!

BTW, eventually that fear goes away and becomes, "Let me exit this f**king AC already!" (usually bc you need to piss and want the harness off  )

Seriously though, the fear will actually get you out of the plane the first few times as your mind will just follow your body as it executes what it has rehearsed again and again....

A dear friend who I served in Vietnam with had over 600 jumps in his twenty five year carreer in the Army...every one a "night jump". He was terrified of heights but jumping was part of the job so he sucked it up and jumped, screaming like a little girl!

The bravest of men are the ones who face there fears and drive past them. Good luck!

Sad news from the home front today Rangers. I received news that my little brother has died. I know I am not one of you, but if you could please keep my family in your thoughts and Prayers I would be forever blessed and grateful as I am really struggling to come to terms with this. Thank you all and God bless
