I finnished PW 1 and am within 50 pages of PW 2. I don't have much to compare them to, just SOG and Blood on the Risers; but, they were very good. I like how the accounts sounded totally real, and not, 'after I jumped up out of the grass with my combat knife in my teeth, I shot and killed 247 gooks with only one magazine in my CAR-15. Then I ran full out for 35 clicks and just barely made to the LZ. I had to drop all my gear and jump and grab onto one of the skids. I hung onto that skid all the way back to base.'
One thing that pisses me off while reading the stories is it always seemed that the higher-up never listened to or beleived the recon element. I mean, that's what they were there to do, and nobody beleived them.
I've always felt that Vietnam Vets were some of the greatest warriors/people, and these books just reinforce that feeling.
