Option 40 contract hopeful

Post by dicarlo »

Hello all Rangers, Active Duty, Reserve, Veterans, and otherwise interested civilians.

My name is Dominic, a civilian long interested in the world of SOF. After much research and introspection I've decided I want to make a hard effort to join the 75th Ranger Regiment.

I graduated high school in June of 2016. I've done a little bit of college but I have discovered I want to be doing something more worldly and real with my life for the time being, which led me to the U.S. Army. Whatever I do, I do to the max, so life as a Ranger seems it would suit me.

As far as where I'm at on the process: I'm pt'ing everyday to prepare myself as much as possible, and I was recently medically airborne cleared at MEPS. I was offered a 74d w/ option 40, but I am currently holding off for 11x option 40, as I don't know enough about 74d yet to be able to accept the offer with no reserve. I hope someone with the right knowledge could enlighten me on the life of a 74d "CBRN" in the Regiment.

I have learned quite a bit from lurking on this forum and I hope to learn even more as a member of the community. Thanks to any and all who took the time to read this, and any wisdom parted my way would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Dominic, welcome here. As Ranger Jim said, use your search feature and Google with the link that was posted here should give you some insight as to what the MOS does. However, you said you want to be 11 series... do that then. Don't settle unless it's an informed decision into that career field.

Good luck.
