My name is Alvin, and I'm a fresh out of AIT soldier doing HRAP before I head to my unit. I enlisted back in February of last year, with hopes of getting an Op 40, but was dry on luck because the Army wasn't offering as many Op 4s and 40s as they used to. I shipped out in June, with a 68W contract, and planned on earning a RASP slot either in Basic or AIT. Neither happened, and the only slots offered were Civil Affairs slots in AIT. Still, I'm actually glad I became a combat medic, even if it didn't have an Op 40 attached to it.
My orders say I'm to report to the 4th Ranger Training Battalion, and I honestly have no idea why they would need a W10 skill level medic when they have SOCOM W40 level medics in their battalion/brigade. Either way, I hope I can request a RASP slot when I get there next week after my HRAP/leave is over. If I'm not given one, I'll do whatever mundane tasks they give me until they have decided I've earned a slot. Hopefully, I'll be given the opportunity to enter RASP soon. Not to sound narrowminded, but the only reason I enlisted was because I had desired to become an Army Ranger ever since I've had knowledge of the 75th.
