Correction: As he was in the Greek contigent of the 8th Army he did not recieve the Victoria Cross as it goes to British troops only. He recieved
the order of Saint George. My bad on this.

My cousin from Australia corrected me by telling me his father was awarded the Greek ANDREAS AXIOS cross.
