Introduction...

Post by Coprhead6 »

Hey Rangers,
My name is Alex and I'm currently a senior in highschool. I've wanted to be a Ranger for as long as I can rember, mostly due to the fact that my father served in the 75th as an officer from 69-72 (Charlie company) near Phan Thiet. And yes, I'm trying to get him registered here!

Even though I am really anxious to join up and get the tab, I'm going to attend college first and take ROTC (on the advice of my father) and hope to land an Infantry slot. Another option I was throwing around is to enlist after college as a specialist!

Well that's enough for now I suppose... I can't wait to hear from you guys.

-Alex

(Oh, and thanks to Ranger GSXRanger for reccomending me)

Welcome to the site. If your dad attended the last Ranger Rendezvous, I probably got to shake his hand. Lots of Charlie Rangers there.

Welcome and good on you for wanting to serve your country. Ask your father if he is a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment Association and attends reunions, and if not, ask him "why not?" There are a number of Vietnam Rangers on this site and several from C Company. One goes by the screen name GaryDolan and your father should know him. And read and heed the ROE PM I have sent you.

Alex, A man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. So far you are doing well enough. If you want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. If Darren encouraged you to join this site, you have a leg-up on most. Remember, you are a guest here, so enjoy our hospitality. As a note of caution, do not refer to Rangers as "guys." Please self-administer a PT test and post the results on this thread not later than Midnight, Monday 8 December 2008. Never, never quit.

Stay in school. Work your ass off. Make good grades, no, fuck that noise, make great grades and do the ROTC thing like there's no tomorrow. I went into the Army with a GED and worked my way up to be a Ranger NCO. My son did the college route and was an Infantry officer; with a Tab. I think he got the better end of the deal.

Take two grains of salt and drive on to your Ranger objective...

Rangers,

Thanks for your responses. It seems that a few of you know my father, which is pretty cool :D . He'll be registered today I hope.
Ranger Jim, thanks for the welcome and the warning; it won't happen again. I'll have a PT score posted by the given time.

Ranger Andy, thanks for the advice. I plan to take it.
