you know her better than us, but if she's smaller/little gun shy/inexperienced-not gunna get much trigger time, etc, a 20GA shotty might be better for her to use than a 12.

[quote="Zonk 1/75"]AS SEEN IN SNIPER SYSTEMS SECTION

With the current economy, the potential of a socialist / communist president and the end of the USA as I once new it I have been advised by my wife to gear up.

This is to include a new tactical shotgun, assault rifle, long gun, ammo and all the fixins.

Yes! You read that right! My wife WANTS me to buy all this stuff! And ASAP!

Been outta the weapons game for a long time and lack the knowledge to determine what weapons to purchase.

I need a shotgun that will be user friendly for my midget wife. Mossberg 500 series (bayonet lug on the 590 is cool!) or Remington 870 which I am most familiar with. I like pistol grips but don’t know if that would be right for said wife.

Handled an M-16 a few times. I have always liked the Remington 700s but have shot the M21s the most. Also, being the practical guy I was thinking that it would be nice to have the same caliber tactical assault rifle and sniper rifle. Same magazines would be a bonus also.

Examples :

Springfield M1A SOCOM 16 and M1A M21 308 Winchester

Armalite AR-10 A2 and AR-30M (if mags are the same)

Bells and whistles: Applicable sighting / aiming systems, lights, slings and cases.

Although I have confirmed my wife’s intent at least 3 times, and tried to conceal my extreme joy, I will have to strike while the iron is hot because, in case some of you do not know, women change their minds on occasion…………..

Understand that I am the one who will be paying for these items. I am just a cop, meaning I don’t need a “dream listâ€

I have a Mossberg Maverick 12 ga. and it came with pistol grips. They're cheap at Academy Sports. She shouldn't have too much trouble with it, I didn't.

Zonk-

Being a ex-Kali resident I feel your joy and pain.

First off, the easy stuff. I personally prefer an 870, but nothing wrong with mossbergs. Easy enough.

You can buy a "kali legal" m-14 from springfield armory. Good MBR.

You can also buy AR's, AK's, FAL's etc., but here it gets a little complicated.

http://www.calguns.net/copmemo2.pdf Cal guns is a great site. That link talks about which "off list" ar's/ak's you can buy.

I know money is an issue, but maybe look at a few things.

12 gauge.

m-14 You can use it as a battle rifle or scope it as a sort of intermediate counter-sniper.

ar15-can't go wrong with having one. Your wife can use it while you use the m14.

Bolt gun. Rem 700. Darted up, will cost a pretty penny, especially with decent glass. You can also look at one of the prepackaged remington hunting rifles complete with glass for around $350. Not sure how far out you plan to shoot. It might make more sense to get an AR and a m14 and a cheaper bolt gun then just a m14 and a more expensive bolt gun.

Ak's aren't a bad option either.

Last but not least, ammo. Buy all you can afford, then buy some more. Someday it might trade as currency.
