Re: Ranger Handbook

The difference between theory and experience is akin to the difference between intelligence and wisdom.

Chicks dig me because I don't wear pants, and when I do, they're usually something interesting.

Well done.

I kinda like the Ned Flanders avatar. But, being a cook, maybe a spork? Both useful and deadly (and totally awesome).

Re: My progress thus far - Affirm

Not to jinx you, but making it past Darby ups your odds significantly. 50% seems high this early on (I think my class lost 56% overall). Granted, we didn't have the 'polar vortex' to deal with. Shit, they may make you sew double white thread on your tab given the crazy weather the last 4 weeks. Best...

Re: HELP APPRECIATED!

Good to know that the only thing I accomplished in life was Ranger School.

I'll cry myself asleep while staring out onto the ocean at one of my two vacation beach homes.

Re: Intro: Jimming

A well known Ranger NCO told me once that I would amount to nothing when I was a cadet. I spent the next 8 years proving him wrong.

I found out later that he wanted to knock the chip off my shoulder and put a fire under my ass. It worked. I thanked him, he laughed, then smoked some new guy.

Might be the best overall SITREP I've seen in a while. Keep on keeping on!

Re: SITREP - Kamber

Lefty - that's hilarious. I'm finding that I'm only good to part out at the ripe old age of 36. I have some worn, but servicable items left. Unfortunately for Kamber, my left shoulder is also jacked from dislocation and is likely not a good candidate for a swap out (though I'd offer it if I could). ...

Re: Intro: Jimming

All of these experiences are money in the bank that will pay dividends. It's always good, when the suck counts, to be able to look back and have experienced it in some form or fashion before. As much as I got yelled at in the military, I could remember back to 'Camp Cadet' when I was a kid (PA State...

Re: Training at high altitude?

When I came back from Northern Warfare in college my cardio was through the roof at sea level. The same after I go climbing with my brother in Jackson Hole for a few weeks. The only problem is once you become aclimated (2-3 weeks), you are 'human' like the rest. Also keep in mind - there's sea level...

Re: Probe of helicopter crash that was carrying SEAL Tm 6

My reading of the situation, having zero inside info, just gut guesses: 1) Overanxious SEALs wanting to 'get into the fight' pile onboard quickest bird available. 2) Quickest bird available is flown by National Guard/Reserve, who lack experience and are 'amped' to fly such a cool guy unit. 3) Nobody...
