Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

King Arthur?
I know he is mythical, but is theoretically made up of a couple of roman generals. That said if the point of the study is leadership traits. He was a mythical leader who embodied all the traits desired at the point in history.
Just a thought.

Re: Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) Course

There are a couple of books you could brush up on. The Brady paramedic books through paramedic level. You now earn a USSOCOM paramedic certificate. For all intensive purposes USSOCOM is a 51st state in the DOT system. Any anatomy books ie Grey’s anatomy. I saw a book called ‘Emergency War Surgery’ i...

Re: A Soldier Claims Obama Is Not A Legitimate President

Wasn't some legislation just signed that exempts BHO from being forced to prove himself by official documents? I believe one Republican legislator even mocked it on the floor as such. I thought it was an executive order. Try that one at you security clearance interview. ;) Either way that only help...

A Soldier Claims Obama Is Not A Legitimate President

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, set to deploy to Afghanistan, says he shouldn’t have to go. His reason? Barack Obama was never eligible to be president because he wasn’t born in the United States Cook’s lawyer, Orly Taitz, who has also challenged the legitimacy of Obama’s presidency in other c...

Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

From everything I have heard, this seems to be a common trait amongst the most respected leaders. It is obvious that a strong and respected leader can choose more risky tactics and have their men choose to follow through. How risky? This is a biased forum to ask this. You guys would take down Hell,...

Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

Not to change the subject, or interfere... (I am really enjoying this, and learning a lot!) Buuuut, any thoughts specifically on Middle Eastern leaders, tactics, etc? Know it is a touchy subject. PM me if it is better than posting in the wild. Shana Lawrence of Arabia- fought in the mid east...

Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

Yes, he was called the President in Congress assembled and did not have all the powers that today’s president does. But then again Bush did not have all the powers that Obama does (or nearly as many CZARS.) Also the Congress at the time did not have nearly the powers that it does today. I understand...

Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

Well then you do have the advantage. That said I hope you are enjoying the conversation as much as I. Next counter. ;) With the French now in the war the commander of the British navy argued for an end to the war and Lord North the PM of Briton agreed. But the King was still ....upset...The Southern...

Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

Yes and 34 years later the Battle for New Orleans would be fought after the peace treaty had been signed ending the War of 1812. A couple more days and there may have been a battle for Mobile. The British government will to fight had all but sputtered out. Parliament was turning against the war. The...

Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

Sorry that was my bad. I meant his opponent Cornwallis not Gates . (Copy/paste mistake.) Washington did ultimately win but it was because of his subordinate commanders and his ability to hold them to the cause Arnold being an exception of course. He kept the Army from disintegrating and therefore lo...

Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

Let me clear up my Washington comment. It is my understanding we are talking about military capabilities. Truth is I do not know if we could have pulled off the revolution without Washington. But that was mostly his political capabilities. Like all commanders you get credit for everything your comma...

Re: Who were the greatest military leaders?

Not yet mentioned. Napoleon Bonaparte: We still use some of his tactics such as maneuver in branches. Proven personal valor in combat etc. Hannibal: who does not know about the elephants coming over the Alps. He repeatedly smacked around the Romans. He was not a good finisher though. Carl von Clause...

Re: Army activates first reconnaissance squadron

Just confirmed F/51 now = C Troop 1/38 CAV
They keep the maroon berets with 38 crest.
Technically they no longer draw their heritage from LRRP. That being said in theory they will do the same job and still have the Paragraph Line #s for HALO, mountain, etc., and for the men CDQC. ;)
